sooo... its been over a week and no posts... so here ya go...i arrived in belize city and two hours and a taxi and boat ride later i was here on an island drinking rum and cokes with people i met 30 seconds before... island life is the way to go. i stayed here for a week, one day windsurfing, one snorkeling, another walking the island.. the others were full of relaxation and libations. I then headed inland to llamanai to see some ruins.. it rained almost all day so we didn't see much for wildlife except for some very loud monkeys. there were some structures we could climb and we had a great guide, but the main reason to head there was the wildlife... but it wasnt a wash, it was still fun. then i ... read more

A week from last Saturday i arrived here in Bariloche. Its a ´relatively´small town on the side of a lake surrounded by mountains. I came with with the idea of staying for a week, finding a spanish class and then heading out to go see iguazu falls and Uruguay… I ended up finding a great spanish school with small classes, 4 people or less in each class and it was such a fun first week of class i decided to stay another week and take another week of classes. I dont see me ever being able to find such a school were i will learn such much and have so much fun. Also I am in a sweet hostel at the moment, very relaxed and literally a home away from home. And i wont have to ... read more

Now to get up to date on my blog before i leave tomorrow for bariloche. Arturo, David and I have reached the end of the world, or at least the most south city in all of Argentina, so called el fin del mundo Usuaia. It is a very nice port with amazing mountains in the background. It is relatively small but the saturation of tourists is high as most trips to Antarctica part from here. I’ll save that trip for another day as the cheapest one is 5 grand. Yesterday we headed out on two tours, on leaving at 7am and the other in the early afternoon. The first tour was to go to an island filled with penguins. The island had two types of penguins that all were all at an arms length away. It ... read more

from where i left off.... i need to catch up before i leave again for my next place on interest and get further behind.... we left el calafate a little later than expected due to the long night the night before but we ended up leaving town around noon and driving about 10 hours by car in Chile to a town called puerto natales just outside parque nacional torres del paine.. found a place to stay and called it a night.. it wasnt a very interesting day but at least we got to stop when we wanted as opposed to a bus. it was funny though because we had bought a bunch of food that we planned on eating for lunch dinner and maybe breakfast.. only to find out we couldnt bring any of it into ... read more

After many days of serious traveling i am able to update the blog. i will be begin with where i left off. I believe i spoke of meeting the mexican guys in the middle of the trail on the way to the top of the mountain. Anyways as soon as i got back to el calafate by bus i went to try to book a tour of glacier moreno, which my guidebook says should be booked 1 to 2 months in advance. upon entering the office and asking if they had a trip available for the next day the clerk sort of laughed at me, but when she looked there was one spot left available, this has been my luck for the whole trip. so i booked a tour of the glacier called BIG ICE, not ... read more

Yesterday I ventured off on a 8 hour hike to see Cerro Fitz Roy.. Something that was not even on my list till i had met the mexican guys from Buenos Aires. It was supposedly a 4 hour hike each way.. but i only had my day pack so it took a little under 3.5hours... The sight was AMAZING... I met a brit and a guy from LA on the top and by the time we got there there were only 5 other people up there. By the time i took a nap there were about 70 people up top.. good timing... wish i could upload the pictures but it takes forever and i dont want to sit in front of a computer that long.. We ended up trekking a little further along and saw the ... read more

I have finally left the confinements of the big city. woke up at 4am in Buenos Aires to head to the airport to El Calafate. I then booked a bus to head to El Chalten, Patagonia, to begin my first day of hiking tomorrow. It has been a long day of traveling but all went well and i was able to find a hostel here in El Chalten, even though it was expensive.... still less than 20us for a night. and as a bonus it inlcudes a towel, this is the first to provide a towel, the second hostel to provide toilet paper as the first hostel did not... ha ha.. what do you expect for 10us a night... It is very windy here but upon entering the area we were forced to stop and listen ... read more

Today I left my canadian friends as they headed out to rosario. I went for a walk through the city with the idea to end up down in San Telmo, leaving from Palermo. I walked for 5 hours all throughout the city with my backpack. I actually ran into the canadians again outside the bus station and we had lunch. Today will not be on the highlight reel but it has been nice to get a real feel for the city. I eventually found the hostel where my two mexican friends are. I checked in and paid for my tickets down to el calafete and will leave early wednesday morning to meet up with my friends from mexico who will get there tuesday. From there I will head to Glacier Moreno and then eventually the three ... read more
