8am waking up was difficult although no Hangover (Yes victory is so sweet!) the breakfast was very good also. Although afterwards we had to say bye to some of the people we had met (the americans victor etc) which was disspointing as many more beers were waiting o be drunk by us all and Bobby certainly could have helped! So off we went to a Oyster farm floating village (very intresting) and then to Monkey Island were at the top of a mini mountain we possibly had the best view ever to pee from (yes im mentioning this who dosn't want to pee with a cracking view!) The monekys were cool they played about and don some diving then we got back on the boat to head for Capa Island. Detouring to the other side of ... read more

Rano sme este stale sedeli v druhom lietadle. Do Soulu sme doleteli okolo 3 poobede miestneho casu a pred nami bolo par dalsich hodin cakania na dalsi spoj. Nejaky cas sme stravili vytvaranim obrazkov pomocou predtlaceneho vzoru a handrovej gulicky. Po letisku sa tiez prechadzal sprievod tradicne oblecenych ludi, dovod nam vsak unikol. Pred nami boli posledne 4 hodiny letu a k tomu krasny sumrak, do ktoreho sme leteli. Do Hanoia sme prileteli uz v noci, okolo 10. Pasova kontrola prebehla bez problemov. Taxikari tu vraj kvoli proviziam casto vozia ludi do inych ... read more

7am feeling amazinlgy sleepy but must catch the bus! So after dragging our backsides down stairs after the worst sleep of the trip we go and wait for the bus by Lee's travel agency. When the bus arrives we jump on and are suprised its a transit! good times at least its not as dodgey as some of the things we have seen. 3 and 1/2 hours on the bus to the harbour we pick up others for a total of 16 people the tour guide has brought along a stool to dsit on by the door (genius!) So after falling asllep most of the way and acting like one ofthem nodding dogs you get in the car we arrive, Say hello to a few of the people we will be travelling with and get on ... read more

Checked out the hostel today probbably one of the best sleeps I've had on the trip the aircon was amazing. Breakfast though was bread and jam (Wishing I had rought the OXO and monster munch!) wandered on down to the hostel for tonight and met the girls. One of them however had her card blocked and hd to stay behind which was a bit of shame but hopefully she sorted it all out and had a god day. We checked in and looked into going to Ha long bay. The wander around the cvity was good fun you name we probbably saw it. Mausuliums houses on stilts pagodas (i will fill in more when I get the map out) We had ice cream oo for 10K dong this is like 30p amazing. ate at a resturant ... read more

The train arrived in Hanoi at 7.30 in the morning. After asking 3 separate taxi drivers to take us to our guesthouse and all looking confused and shaking their heads we started the walk in the rain. Paul is like a baby turtle who instinctively knows which way to go. He doesn't seem to study the map, just glances quickly, looks around at his land marks (quote) and after a walk (this one 20 minutes) we arrive at our dwellings! It's crazy how good he is at it and I'm very grateful as I can get lost looking for my car in tesco carpark! So, first impressions of Hanoi: smelly, dirty, rainy, I don't much like it. It is the Capitol city though and I'm not a fan of cities (apart from Nottingham)! Everything is twice ... read more

Nate and I left the glorious lands of Laos for Vietnam a few days ago. Laos was so relaxing and slow paced, there was barely any honking and cars did not try to run you off the road, everyone smiled patiently and took turns with things. Needless to say we were definitely on Lao time when we arrived in Hanoi, Vietnam. Immediately we were shaken up. There was honking everywhere we turned, people were constantly trying to hustle us, we got ripped off at currency exchange and our hostel was bustling with British bros. Hanoi is not a bad city but we were on such a different wave length that everything seemed so shocking and foreign to us to the point where we were overwhelmed. I can see why people fall in love with the country ... read more

This entry on trip from Phnom Penh to Ho Chi Minh City is mostly bleak. I think that is reflected in the pictures. There aren't any really pretty things to see here, but they are interesting. This trip starts in Cambodia where a mini bus picked me up at my hostel for the beginning of my trip down the Mekong Delta to Saigon (a name used interchangeable with Ho Chi Minh City by pretty much everyone). There were a pair of girls from the Netherlands and another couple from Germany in addition to myself. About an hour into our bus trip the Dutch girls started asking when we would arrive at the boat. Apparently the hotel that sold this trip to them told them that they would be taking a boat for 6 hours from right ... read more

This morning was our earliest morning yet with a 6:45 start. We were picked up from our hostel at 8am and joined our tour group for the day; and ecclectic mix of Japanese, Norwegians, Chinese, an American and a friendly Canadian. Our tour guide was also lovely, even if some of her English was slightly difficult to understand at times. The journey was about 4 hours long, but thankfully there was air-conditioning and we had a stop half way through at an indoor craft market where Liv was accused of stealing a bracelet worth $1.50...I definitely steal it and through limited English finally managed to persuade her that I had actually already paid for it, despite being told about ten times 'no'. We carried on with the journey and about 2km before reaching Halong Bay, we ... read more

Halong Bay is usually high on any tourist’s list of things to do and see in Vietnam. Once we’d boarded the boat, it didn’t take long for us to find out why. The limestone that dominates northern Laos’ forested landscape with steep mountains and deep caves is mirrored here, rising majestically from the blue sea. Halong Bay is very similar to Ao Phang-Nga, off Thailand’s Andaman coast, but it covers a far wider area. So despite the huge number of tour boats, the vast size of Halong Bay means that it’s possible to escape to quiet coves. Here, with the sound of the sea lapping the cliffs and infinitesimally slowly eroding the karst, you’re alone. Oh, except everyone you’re sharing a boat with is there too. We’d begun our travels, almost nine months earlier, with a ... read more

We started early this morning as we were getting picked up at 7:00am for our drive to Halong Bay. On the way we stopped at a restaurant called Koto. It's basically the same as Jamie Oliver's Fifteen Restauant where they take the Vietnamese kids off the street and teach them cooking and life skills etc. The breakfast was delicious; it was buffet style and they had everything. Pancakes, banana bread, bacon, hashbrowns, fruit, cereal, yoghurt, and many other things. After, we jumped on the bus and our new local guide joined us, his name Mr Bac. We drove for about 2hours before stopping at a pottery making yard. We saw them making various size pots and also got to paint a plate of our own. We didn't get to keep ... read more
