Well, lots of things happened today... It's as tough for me to get to the end without skipping out the middle, so, hang in there We woke up this morning at about 7:30... not all that difficult to do when you got to bed that night at 9:30! The builders hammering together the new restaurant convinced us to up and look for a new place to stay. After looking around the resorts a little further down the beach, we stumbled on a stunning resort (*Details at end of entry) complete with patio, deck chairs and a stunning beach view! While I unpacked, D went to go and ask about where we could hire a motorbike for the day... a few minutes later, he was calling me to see if the helmet fit! The hotel receptionist that ... read more

Phu Quoc island is a lovely island not very known by tourists. At least for now because they're building everywhere and by the next 2 years this will turn into one of the paradise places to go to.... read more

Around the world in 367 daysEd and Gemma Well here we are on the 4th July, a year and a day since the first leg of our trip, from London to Toronto, and many countries and experiences later. We still have to pinch ourselves that this has all happened. It has been an awesome adventure and one we will be remembering for the rest of our lives. As we return home jobless and homeless it has to be said that we do not regret this journey we have taken for one minute, and in fact we know how lucky we are to have been able to put ourselves in the situation that has allowed us the chance to travel in this way. The testing times that travelling puts any individual in can be dangerous for any ... read more
Game over!

In the morning we experienced a large ball of fiery gas in the air, we believe some people call it a 'sun'! It was a lovely way to spend the morning of our last full day, messing about in the sea and pool as well as allowing the body to get some vitamin Ds (is that the right vitamin you get from the sun rays, we are not too sure). We celebrated our last evening with a bottle of Moet, and a fantastic dinner - the food in this hotel is absolutely amazing on any scale and is completely out of proportion with everything else here. Predictably we spent the evening reminiscing about the last year and just realising that we are going home tomorrow. Heeee ... read more

It was a lovely morning

Remembering this time last year, we did not don our wedding outfits and hope The Leo Green Experience would turn up at the pool side to while away the afternoon. Instead we went on a morning excursion to the south part of the island, visiting places like the pearl farm that 'makes' pearls for the Australian market. Both of us learnt something new today about how the pearl is made - "a skilled technician implants a nucleus from a Mississippi pig toe mussel". Then we went to the most southerly tip of the island to the island's second town - ‘Coconut town’. There is also a prison here, named 'Coconut Prison’ even though there is not a coconut in sight, which had some very strong coconut walls that kept in 40,000 prisoners in its heyday. ... read more

Today was a lot like yesterday afternoon, just with more thunder storms and A LOT of rain. Gemma read and read and Ed worked on his plan of attack on the Fund Management world. The resort here is great, maybe not worth the money we are paying for the service we are getting (the staff have to pass a 'Say yes to anything whether you understand it or not' test to work here) but the place is virtually empty and it is ideal for us to relax and contemplate the time ahead. We are just tired and ready to come back home. ... read more

Une petite ile encore ... read more

Sunday 8th April Up extremely early today (4.30am) to catch a one hour flight to the island of Phu Quoc in the very south of Vietnam (actually below Cambodia but belonging to Vietnam). This was a place that was an absolute must on our itinerary as it was meant to have beautiful beaches with 'crystal clear water'. The photos I had seen of it prior to leaving OZ had left me breathless and looked like absolute paradise. We arrived in the morning to find it pretty overcast. It had apparently rained heavily that night which was unusual for the time of year. After getting our bags, we made our way through the touts, and started walking into town. We have a pet hate of touts, especially motor bike ones as they nearly all try to rip ... read more
