Day 6 We started our day early per usual. Kemper wasn't feeling 100% but being the trooper that she is (and fear of missing out) she was determaned to power on. We decided to walk over to the much talked about Tham Phra Nang cove. The path way to get to the beach was breathtaking in is own. It felt like we were walking through a limestone cave that opened up into a fairytale beach. Minutes after we arrived the beautiful blue skys turned dark and a cool breeze picked up. The weather felt perfect. For the first time in a week we werent sweating. We sat on the beach to take in all the beauty. We agreed this is by far the most beautiful place we have ever been. (pictures can't do it justice). Without ... read more

Day 4 Time to leave Bangkok and head down south to Railay beach. We checked out of the Muse hotel, which was a great hotel apart from the possible homicide or kidnapping that illedgedlly didnt happen on our floor. It was time to put on our bathing suits and soak up some sun. Bus to airport Small Plane (with the help of some anxiety meds) to Krabi Bus from Krabi to Ao Nang Peir Long tail boat to West Railay beach The boat dropped us in the middle of the ocean (thigh deep) so after a wet walk/swim to shore we had arrived. With half the day still remaining we quickly checked into our room and ventured off to explore what Kemper thought was an island. We took a quick 10 minute walk through the jungle ... read more

Soph managed to fall into the sea with her bag but thankfullly the phone etc are fine! Raillay is absolutely tiny but with massive mountains either side absolutely spectacular with a nice beach on the west side ( were obvioulsy staying on the east cheap side but still have a pool!) plan is to stay for a couple of days then head over to Koh pangyan to the half moon party then up to Koh ... read more

There isn't anything too much to report from this secluded beach island off the peninsular of Krabi. We had a very relaxing and serene three nights and two full days. We had dinner at a restaurant that was part of a resort on the east side on the first night but had to take it easy due to our lack of being able to keep food down! Lauren had jacket potato which was lovely and Ben had some fried rice and spring rolls. We had an early night as the day of travelling and the beach walk in Phi Phi had taken its toll on our very weary bodies. The next day, Wednesday, we headed to find the lagoon and view point Ben had been dying to show Lauren since we initially talked about returning to ... read more

As always we choose to make our way to Krabi by public transport, yep it takes at least twice as long but saves us a fortune! The guest houses always give you what seems like a great price, and compared to a private taxi they are cheap, but if you compare that again to the public transport that the locals use it seems a right rip off! So after five hours on various buses and not knowing if we were on the right ones we eventually got to Ao Nang late afternoon, just before the storm! A pretty bad storm to, we were without power for hours and when we did venture out to grab some scran there were trees being chopped up and disposed of and signs that had fallen that would probably have killed ... read more

After watching an amazing sunset, as usual I'm back at Copacabana bar I meet Jess and Pete who invite me to climb with them the following day. A couple from England Pete is a born Aussie who grew up in Australia and is returning to his roots whilst Jess, his long term girlfriend is an English girl who has always wanted to visit Australia. They turn out to be awesome climbing partners and I'm disappointed that I'm heading to Europe whilst they head for serious climbing in the Blue Mountains and beyond. We take a few routes along "1, 2, 3 wall" and I manage to conquer a 6b on top rope. After leading a few 4's and a couple of 5a's I'm ready to step it up a notch and give a 5b a go. ... read more

I decided to have a break from climbing and finally look around Railay beach. Despite only planning to stay at Railay for 2 days I was really enjoying this place and had met many a traveller at the bar who had arrived, similar story, loved it to bits and couldn't leave. As per my usual routine on the island I packed my rock climbing gear just in case I spotted any nice crags or even bouldering routes on the island:) On the way to "1 2 3 wall" I spotted a sign for the Lagoon so I felt the urge to check it out. There are two reasons to visit the Lagoon. One is obviously the Lagoon itself and the second is the awesome view that awaits you at the top of the mountain. It's a ... read more

There's something magic about climbing. When your leg finally stops doing the Eelvis, when you stop sweating, swearing and generally freaking out for attempting to ascend 30+ meters vertically in the air you get to this moment of amazing mental clarity. You begin to appreciate how truly powerful your body can be if you trust it. It's only a brief maybe 5 second head space for me, before I turn into a swearing sweaty nutcase again. But those 5 seconds are worth it. We begin the day climbing up the 1 2 3 wall. Nughn is really patient and great at explaining the technique and theory of climbing and balancing this with just enough practice. I would highly recommend Nughn as a teacher, this guy does not sell himself enough. He climbs a 6b quite comfortably ... read more

After staying in Krabi and feeling like I was back in backpacker land it was time to hit the road. First thing in the morning after grabbing a delicious egg rice noodle soup from one of the local stalls/resturants I headed to the pier. The boat left after it got near full and we set off. The boats are pretty cool from Krabi to Railay they have almost mini Viking boat features and it almost doesn't do it justice to have a motor hooked to the back. I guess the back packers passing through Thailand get pretty relaxed so I'm not sure who would actually be up for the rowing. Initially I made my way to Railay Cabana which I read was one of the cheaper less resort like aces on the island. I got lost ... read more
