So I left you in Cambodia, Siem Reap... We left Cambodia at 8am to cross the border into Thailand, we were told it would take 8hours by bus but in the end it was 10, not bad going. Again we had been advise that the border crossing could be a bit dodgy but it was fine, phew! There were points where we weren't sure if we were going the right direcrion but we made it across. With our stickers on to show the drivers where we were going we were ushered onto the bus bound for Bangkok. We arrived in crazy hectic Bangkok in the evening, stopped for a beer before trekking around to find some accommodation. The place we wanted to stay at we could not find, so we checked into a hostel that had ... read more

(Before I start I've now loaded some photos with previous blogs) A lazy morning spent having a late (ish) breakfast and then a lie down by the pool at the hotel. We were picked up for the transfer to the airport at mid day and made our way through the customary heavy traffic to the airport. The flight took of on time and we landed at Krabi at 16:15. The hotel staff metb us at the airport and we were whisked off in our own minibus the the Pimalai Jetty where a speedboat was waiting to take us to the resort. Luckily the sea was very calm and it only took us 45 minutes to get there. By this time dusk was ascending so we alighted from the boat , walked along the jetty and were ... read more

For those that don't know, I'm getting married in April :-) Michael and I are very excited for the big day and just as excited for the honeymoon trip. We love traveling. It seemed a shame to just go to another Caribbean Island when we have 2 full weeks of vacation time. So we decided to go to a place where we could backpack and go on some adventures, but also relax on a beach and enjoy the start of our life together. We feel we deserve it after stressing over all these wedding details for the last year. So we decided on Thailand :-) And we just can't go so close to Angkor Wat without seeing it, so we're throwing that into the mix too. Anyone have any suggestions on a great place to stay ... read more

Day 1 Arriving at Krabi airport, all the bags were offloaded into the entrance of the building, not on the carousel. Once we figured that out, we went in search of transportation to our hotel. The taxi cartel at the airport is in full swing here, so paying a premium we found a driver who would take us. Unfortunately he didn't know where the hotel was. Dean was all for going back to the airport but luckily the driver eventually engaged his brain and asked some tuk tuk drivers on the side of the road. Eventually we arrived at our destination, which was covered in bamboo scaffolding. Upon closer inspection, yes, it was still open for business. The lady at reception was very nice and switched rooms for us when she realised it would be too ... read more

After Krabi we decided to check-out the rock climbing meccah that is Tonsai Beach. Upon arrival the Krask rock formations had us in awe. After a short but rather moist trip on a long boat we arrived at the upper class Rai-Leh East. Afer a brief walk through the jungle, backpacks and all, we emerged at Rai-Leh West. The next task involved clambering through some razor-sharp rocks in order to penetrate the lofty defences of Tonsai Beach. We enjoyed the daily cool breeze that Tonsai had to offer but decided after a day of relaxation we had to join the adrenaline junkies (rock climbers, base jumpers, kayakers and fire experts) and immerse ourselves in the vibrant spirit of the Tonsai culture. We jumped in at the deep end and went to explore the 'View Point' and ... read more

Hallo allemaal! Veel rotsen, groen en goed ... read more

hey Malaysia, its not me… its you( and your freakin tricks… i mean the lost wallet, c’mon)… bye. lol. clock ticked 4:30am and my taxi was waiting downstairs. off to Sungai Nibong terminal, 20rm, to catch the 5am van to cross the border to Hat Yai, the southernmost part of Thailand. i purchased the 30rm ticket, Penang-Hat Yai, the previous day in the terminal. i was quite surprised the trip was on time, 5am, more so i was the only passenger at that time. it was like i hired the whole van to accommodate my lone ass. sweet. the van was fast and the driver was furious. jeeez we werent cruising the hiway, we were flying 123 fukcin knots. nuts! much to my liking though, really. who wants a 5hr trip when you can get ... read more

Hello! After getting up at half 5 to catch our bus (which was late!) and then over half a days travelling we made it to Krabi... first impressions not that great! Possibly because we're very tired but also we are in quite a dirty run down area, maybe once we reach the beach everything will be fine, we're planning to go kayakking here and maybe get in some snorkelling :) the owner of the hostel is odd, although we are not supposed to think of him as the owner, but as family, he is sweet but strange! we spent our last night on Koh Samui just chilling out on the beach which was really nice and still very warm even when it got late, there were people setting off lots of fireworks and chinese laterns so ... read more

This morning looks a better day for weather - and so it should. My milk-white skin is showing no signs of a tan so I need to put some hours in at the pool. I managed this for all of 3 hours before the weather turned from spectacularly sunny to gloriously grim. The rain thumped down and the thought of the 3 hr trip to Ko Lanta to meet Hannah (friend who I met on the plane coming over here) is looking less appealing by the minute. If the weather's the same over there, it's less tropical paradise and parasols and more torrential storms and umbrellas... The minivan collected me at 3pm so I'd get there for dinner time, which was great as we're down to have a three course home cooked meal at the luxury ... read more
