I visited the local village a couple of days ago to buy a mosquito net and I was almost back when a motorbike stopped next to me with two of the boy/girls from the hotel on it. They gestured for me to get on the back and I did. My first experience as one of three on a bike. I have had three rooms at the New Lapaz. The first one was O.K. but when I saw inside the end cabin that a couple was leaving and it had a mosquito net, I decided I wanted that one. I moved all my stuff but the net was gone. It belonged to the couple who moved out. That’s why I went to the village to buy my own. It is huge and I feel that I am ... read more

Of course you should not be hearing from me now, I have supposed to be on a silent meditation retreat in Surat Thani. Well, I’m not - obviously. When I left my hotel in Bangkok, as I was travelling within Thailand I got a taxi to the domestic airport. Wrong! Most domestic flights go from the international terminal and are they close together? No! My flight was leaving in an hour from an airport that was nearly an hour away. I had about 15 minutes of aaaargh. I couldn’t get a later flight as that would get me to the monastery after dark and no one is at the gates then to let me in and registration for the course closed at 3pm anyway. What to do? After texts and phone calls with the ex (they ... read more
It was raining hard and blowing furiously.
From the relative dryness of the restaurant.
I would have still gone in the pool but worried about lightening strikes!

i feel like im in some Jurassic park movie - the bugs and insects here are at least 10 times the size of back home. The Air con made some strange noises this moring and when i turned it off an ant the size of my fist jumped out and started running around, needless to say i sprinted like a lunatic - when i had the courage to return it took 5 or 6 smacks with my flip flop and it was still squirming around... apart from that it hasnt stopped raining, it is also low season so there are very few tourists about - lots of touts and people offering various 'services' on th street i have decided Koh Samui is similar to Florida but sleazier, cheaper and younger! hopefully will ge some photos up ... read more

The Ozzie owner is a complete nutcase, drunk and roaring at some staff in the reception area about missing money from the safe - he gave me a free drink warning: 'this is gonna get loud and i apologise in advance so your drink and internet is free' - i think ill be back on the trail for accommodation tomorrow... Not quite Paradise city, maybe itll be better in the morning with the sun out?! lol ... read more

Seeing as it was pouring with rain in the morning were unable to 'sunbathe' until lunchtime which soon turned into rainbathing. Despite the weather Becky still managed to obtain a spectacular sunburn with factor 50, cloud, rain and shade!! In the evening we decided to head to Ko Samui's main town Chaweng. Fortunately there were far fewer 'girly' bars and we tried some XXXXXXL shopping with Elin managing to purchase a bikini for less than a fiver bringing the saleswoman close to tears! after dinner we were cornered by yet more tailors but this was a special tailors who offered free beer, which was gratefully received! despite not offering clothing they told us to check out the local cabaret which was exceptionally entertaining and very confusing! Having been dazzled by the beauty and talents of the ... read more

Hi Guys, Bangkok - Koh Samui 7.30pm - 6.30am Night bus What a hell of a journey, we try to doze but every time we hit a pot hole or take a bend on 2 wheels we jump out of our skins. I am going to try a new tactic next time sleeping pills or don,t sleep at all other wise it's like sleep deprivation torture. 6.30am dumped at small grotty bus depot. We get eaten alive by mozzie's because it is scruffy and very wet. 8am a bus comes along to pick us up for a 65km drive ( the bus looks like it's prime was probably 60's era ) next ferry for just over a hour and finally 15 min taxi ride. Finally we arrive at Lamai, The Royal Cottage Residence It is absolutely ... read more
