Left Ko Phi Phi yesterday for the mainland. Joined up with my new tour group. Much smaller then the first. Only 3 of us on this 10 day excursion. Shall see what happens. Long trip today as we leave Thailand and head into Malaysia, namely Penang, Georgetown. There has been some civil unrest in southern Thailand but we are assured this won't effect our trip across the border. Not sure what this leg of the trip has in store, but guessing it won't be a lively and memorable as the first. A new challenge and experience awaits! Will fill you all in later:-) Time to catch a mini-bus! Gerry... read more

We arrived in Ao Nang Krabi on the west coast looking forward to our first taste of Thailand. Ao nang is a holiday resort located in Krabi and is very popular with central Europeans. We managed to get accomodation pretty easy considering it was getting close to Christmas, staying in a really nice hotel with all our creature comforts, even better we had a balcony with an amazing view looking out onto the perfectly looked after gardens and further out the sea. Our stay at the hotel was made better by Jennie a Thai member of staff from our hotel and a shifty wee character with a little twitch that made her wink everytime she spoke and said that any trips that we fancied we could go to her for "cheap cheap discount" shifty but so ... read more

We finally arrived in Krabi 4 hours late, after having to swap buses twice and wait around for ages, and when we did arrive we were dropped at a tourist trap of a 'bus station' which was just a hut in the middle of no where with the only overpriced transport around. We were tired by this point though so got a shared taxi to Ao Nang, the area we had stayed before in Krabi, and found a great room at a guesthouse next door to where we stayed last time we were here in November. As it was getting late we just went for some dinner and got an early night, but were up early the next morning as the weather was great. Before we went to the beach we stopped at a massage place ... read more

So its definetly been a while since I updated this thing! Ive been much too busy sun bathing to write the blog..haha.. So last time I had written we were getting ready to depart from the beautiful Phi Phi island! So we left by ferry and headed to Ao Nang pier and then got a long tail boat to Railay. We found the hotel with no problems. It was hot when we arrived. We got into our room and had a few minor problems- Peter blocked the toilet (Well I slag him that he did), the Air-Con wasn’t working and then the safe decided to lock with all our belongings in it! So we got upgraded to a fancy room- Great!! So we spent from the 14th to 19th December on this part of the island. ... read more

Alright... This is going to be short. I just re-read my much responded to post in regards to "The Beach" AND Mr. DiCaprio. Whilst I do hold a very heterosexual respect for this actor, I just wanted it to be clear that I am a fan of the MOVIE and not the actor. I now realize I should have re-read my work and communicated a less awkward stance towards the beautifully built six foot 2?? Blonde bombshell that is Leo DiCaprio... Seriously, he's not that incredible or anything hahahaha Today Alexis and I had a pretty slow paced day with an ample amount of time on the beach, browning ourselves further to make the lot of you jealous. I'm not sure Alexis informed everyone that we rented a scooter to zoom around the area, which lead ... read more

Here's a brief account of what we've been up to over the last few weeks! We eventually left Koh Samui and headed for Khao Lak. We were promised so much from the travel agent-oh, the dream of a bus that would take us directly there from the boat, but, alas, it was not meant to be!! It ended up being pretty much the typical Asian journey with at least 3 bus changes for little apparent reason! Whenever we asked one driver if this was the direct bus, he would just say 'yes'. Two minutes later we'd change again-hmmm, were seeing a bit of a pattern here! Regardless, we eventually arrived in Khao Lak after a rainy few hours over jungle land and luckily saw a sign for our hotel right away-the Suwan Palm resort! The taxi ... read more
