We finally arrived in Krabi 4 hours late, after having to swap buses twice and wait around for ages, and when we did arrive we were dropped at a tourist trap of a 'bus station' which was just a hut in the middle of no where with the only overpriced transport around. We were tired by this point though so got a shared taxi to Ao Nang, the area we had stayed before in Krabi, and found a great room at a guesthouse next door to where we stayed last time we were here in November. As it was getting late we just went for some dinner and got an early night, but were up early the next morning as the weather was great.
Before we went to the beach we stopped at a massage place as they had half price treatments before 2pm, and so Scott got a Thai massage while Vic got a foot scrub and manicure, all for £6! Then it was time to head to a beach. On our last visit here we had been to Railey beach and chicken island, so this time we decided to get a long tail boat to a small beach
near Railey called Phra-nang, which we had heard was meant to be nice. We got there and it was gorgeous! The sun was out and the sea looked so clear and inviting, so we got a spot on the sand and went for a quick dip before Scott (ever the adventurer) spotted rock climbing on the limbstone cliffs lining the beach so chose to give it a go, as it was something he had wanted to do for a while.
After passing a shrine to penis's (?!) on the beach, Vic got the camera and played photographer from the ground, while Scott got harnessed up and was given a brief safety talk by the thai guide, before starting to climb up the rock face on his own. It was much steeper than it looked and there weren't many places to grip so he found it quite challenging, but he loved it and was soon giving spiderman a run for his money as he made his way higher up the rocks. When he got to the top aftre about 20 minutes he looked down and gave Vic a big thumbs up, before realising he would have to make his way
down - not so easy! But he did great and was down in no time, wanting to try the next level of climbing straight away!
First though it was lunch time, so we walked along the beach to the many long tail boats which had been set up as food stalls - such a good idea - and we had fried rice and noodles on the sand, when out of nowhere the wind picked up and the sky turned grey. We thought it was going to rain so went back to get our bits from the beach, and within a few more minutes the heavens had opened and it started pouring down - the weather can turn here so quickly! We ran along the beach to get a long tail boat back to Ao Nang, getting soaked in the process, but by the time we had made the 15 minute journey accross the rain had stopped. After a quick look around the shops we walked back to our guesthouse and had a nap before getting ready to go for dinner.
We walked round the town for a while deciding what to have for dinner, before choosing an Italian
place for pasta. After a nice meal we had a last look round the shops before having an early night, as the next morning we would be picked up early to make our way over to Phi Phi island for the last few days of our trip...we can't belive how quick the last few weeks have gone and its almost time to come home!
