We got up early to find a pretty wet morning! Un-deterred by the rain we headed out to see the Temple and to eat breakfast in a cute little tea shop spotted yesterday. The rain was fine and pretty refreshing but persisted for most of the morning. After lunch we got the bus across to Ao Nang, a beach town and typical tourist trap. Our hostel (Glur Hostel) was thankfully away from the main road. In fact it's a really pretty hostel, with homemade curtains and a cute little common area looking out to the garden (Claire Hawkins - it'd be right up your street!) The beach at Ao Nang is huge, but dirtier then Koh Tao. We decided to walk the length in the afternoon, and at one end a monkey jumped out of the ... read more

Today we have checked into the Krabi Tipa Resort in Ao Nang in the South west province of Krabi. Since you are never quite sure in south-east Asia whether a booking is a booking we approached the rather grand entrance with a certain amount of trepidation. We are lucky this time and the wooden bungalows are set in tropical gardens facing a jungle filled limestone cliff. It is beautiful and clean- one of my favourite C words on this trip! The hotel entrance is filled with a huge C tree and decorations. Staff in cafes and shops are sporting C hats and the laundry this morning was playing C carols! It won't like celebrating at home but, even if Iain won't let me mention the C word, I am sure we will have a great time ... read more

After not having written in a long time, I have finally found some time on a rainy afternoon in Ao Nang, Thailand to update you on my travels. After having spent 9 months in Sunny Oz, I decided it was time to venture on to a new destination for a much needed break away from Oz, and mainly from ‘work’ if you can call it work! In a nutshell…. a very big nutshell my Australia highlights so far…. Seeing the amazing stars and the Milky way whilst working on the lemon farm, Visiting mainly places including St Kilda, Melbourne, the Great Ocean road, The blue Mountains, Echuca, Mildura and Beautiful Sydney. The ferry trip to Manly definitely stands out as one breathtaking moment too seeing all the nice houses of the rich and famous along the ... read more

So we were meant to be leaving Koh Phi Phi to head over to Koh Lanta, but we befriended an english tattooist from Ascot who said that it was dead over there and suggested we headed to Ao Nang. We jumped on a boat over there to get off in terrential rain, definitely not ideal however we choose to make the most out of a bad situation and headed out, once we got to the nightlife (Centre-point) we realised that this place was also not pumping. There wasn't much else to do but drink and play pool, where to thai birds asked us to play which we obliged to, however as soon as the pool cue was placed in one of the thai birds hands we noticed this was no bird, but a lady boy, crouching ... read more

Hiya! After Phi Phi we went back to Krabi but this time we stayed by the beach in Ao Nang. We stayed in a hotel called Bens House and for some reason we were upgraded to a huge room it was soo nice so we decided to spend the rest of the time we had left in Thailand there. The first night we got there was St Paddy's Day so we went searching for an irish pub and we found The Irish Rover who were giving out free shots every 15 mins :-). We met a girl who is also a backpacker called Anneka and her mum Wanda from Coventry who had come to Thailand to meet up with her, they were both crazy and they ended up buying us drinks, Michael also ended up dancing ... read more

. . . RACHEL HAS A TAN! We returned to Koh Phi Phi to have a relax on the beach as we never got to do it 1st time round- unfortunately the weather was some what unpredictable and one evening we got caught in heavy heavy rain!!! After our relax we were ready to be a bit busy again and headed to Krabi staying in Ao Nang, it was so holiday like here with lots of fancy restaurants along the beach front (we didn't really eat in those). While we were here we went on an island, snorkelling tour. We got to visit 9 of the small islands around Ao Nang and Krabi, snorkelling and swimming in the sea. We were on a long tail boat all day and we both got absolutely burnt to a ... read more

Be warned, this is a bit of a moany blog! Myself and Vinny left Phi Phi on the evening ferry to Krabi, where we got a taxi to Ao Nang, a beachside resort town nearby. The main reason we were here was to visit the beaches of Railay so the next morning, we got a longtail boat to Railay Beach West, the closest of them. We were surprised by how expensive it was, over $12 for the two of us, as the beach was only minutes away (and there was a load of us on the boat). The scenery on the boat was great though and the water was so clear, I couldn’t wait to go snorkelling! When we got to the beach, it was fairly busy. We found a spot and spent the day there, ... read more

Framme! Kram från oss... read more

Hello people back home! We're coming to the end of our few weeks in Thailand now with plenty of things to catch you up on, so here goes.... Having enjoyed a flying visit to Singapore, we landed in Krabi and headed straight to Ao Nang where we met up with Sparky to begin our Asian adventure. We only spent an evening here so we could make it to Koh Phangnan in time for a half moon party. It was just enough time to get our heads round the currency and demolish what would become our first of many pad thais. As would be expected, the 1/2 moon was great fun and involved an awful lot of UV paint, fire displays and dancing in the jungle. Koh Samui was our next stop- the weather was pretty horrendous ... read more

We were collected from our hotel by a mini bus and er assumed we would be getting off and then onto a ferry as foot passengers. We were wrong, all the ferries were car ferries se we stayed in the mini bus for the whole trip. When we got to Ao Nang we asked the driver to drop us at the Pranang Flora, we had no booking but it had food reviews on Trip Advisor. After driving around for 10mins at a snails pace we found the place and the driver jumped out to talk to the receptionist to try and get commission out of us, but we were having none of it knowing that his commission would be added onto the price of our room . We got the price down to 550B per night ... read more
