Ahhhh, back in the most beautiful place in the world! I was only gone for 4 days, but it took my breath away again. Anyway, Friday I went to Lumphini park in Bangkok early and watched all the early morning people. It is a very nice park, and they have a senior center there. They have a loop around the park which is 2.5km around, but it is quite far from my hotel, so I didn't run because it's too far from a shower - and believe me, you definitely need a shower and about 1L of water after a jog here because it is so hot and humid! After that I went to the bus terminal to figure out my ticket to Koh Chang and then on to MBK mall! I had to seriously restrain ... read more

Haven't a clue how far we got up to a few days ago, ha! Yesterday morning sam said (courageously) "How you fancy renting a motorbike?" - - - eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!! So, what did I say? "yes" - in a very squeaky voice that wasn't mine, donned a helmet, got me leg'oer and off we set into total randomness! Mind, we had bought a map and as there is only one proper road I knew we wouldn't get too lost, well, not for long anyway! We were zooming along when Sam screeched to a halt, after putting all me clothing back where it belonged I saw a sign saying Waterfall, vrooom vroom. We nearly ran over a ferkin huge centipede too - mustve been 12 inches long and defo had more than 100 legs (hope he dont get ... read more

Yesterday was time to book to leave Ayawotsitcalled - the stingy bugga's overcharged us double so we were pretty glad to leave! We had a plan - with a problem, our train left ayawotsit at 5:00am, did we have a watch/clock? No, did we hell... but we didnt let that stop us! Up at 4:30, tuk-tuk to train station - yakkityyakiityyakkity all the way, sat in 3rd class again (nothing but the best for us Tykes!) and arrived at Bangkok at 7:30am - used their fantastic trainstation bogs; not only did you have to squat, twist round and then peform a water dance you had to race for the opportunity too!! queues? They don't do queues!! Thank Gawd I only wanted a pee! Hate to think of the rigmarole for a No2! Bus to the ferry ... read more

After taking my sweet time in Trat, I left around noon for Koh Chang. By the way, Jah is a WONDERFUL host at Trat Guest house. It is the cutest place (see photos on shutterfly!) and he rode his bike with me to the post office, carried all my things, and helped me to ship a box back to the US (can we say SHOPPING!) I also had delicious banana pancakes for breakfast there. Also met Visorn there, more on him later. Koh Chang is an archipelago of 52 islands, but the main one is called Koh Chang (Elephant Island) which is where I'm staying. Took the 45 minute ferry from a dock close to Trat, and what a beautiful ride! Took the taxi (back of a pickup truck with benches and a roof to Hat ... read more

Its been a long time... Yeah I know, what can I say? Although I have been in Thailand over two months and whilst I have been stuck on a perfect tropical island most of the time I have not just been anchored to a beach for the entire duration. That is not strictly true but I will try and relay what I have been up to on this this strange little island to the best of my abilities! I have only been to two places so far in Thaliand, Bangkok for 2 days and Koh Chang for the rest of the time. On the outset Koh Chang is a very mellow place that really caters for everyones needs. So apart from trying to go brown on the beach (for those of you who know me this ... read more

Hi all, I met a couple of canadian guys, Ken and barry, (what a pair of party guys they are!) when I went for dinner the other night, who invited me to go sea fishing with them and a group of swedish - why not I thought! I sohuld explain where I'm staying the restaurant and bars are all on the beach, so after dinner we went to the bar and watched the entertainment, fire dancers! They are amazing, they even use chains with fire on the end! Very graceful, If I catch the show tonight, will try to video it, it has to be seen to be believed! The next day was absolutely fantastic, should have known I would be in good company when the first thing they did was work out how many beers ... read more

Hi everyone, This one has photos as well, hope they're good! Well I moved up to Bangkok from Krabi, using the "VIP" overnight bus, 12 hours! Not for the faint hearted that's for sure. Anyway, arrived on the Kho San Road at 6am. That place is buzzing, even at 6am! Had a coffee, too early to check in anywhere, and the two places I did see were, well, less than choice. I had a chat with a gorl who recommend Siam square as being a nice place to stay, unfortunately a bit too pricey! Anyway found a lovely little guest house not too far away, and went exploring. First impressions? I absolutely hated it! Too noisy, smelly, dirty, traffic jams at 5am!! no, definately not for me. So made the best of a weird day, sorted ... read more

We have been to the elephant camp for Jetsons birthday although he enjoyed the jeep ride more than the elephants i think. I was a bit anxious, so he probably picked up on this when I was holding him on the elphant ride. It was much as I expected. The elephants are forced to do their masters bidding by a rather large spike that they get hit in the head with. It is said that they do not really get hurt by this because their skin is so thick, but the scars tell a different story. What do you do ? Learn from the experience and choose not to do this again. I think some horses have whips used, and tigers are forced into submission, but I do not have to agree with it or be ... read more
