Sun. 16th. April. A day trip to the bridge over the River Kwai means a 06:30 start. It better be worth it. First stop is the War Graves Cemetary, where a lot of allied prisoners of war are buried. Even after all these years, the grounds are kept immaculate, with plants by every grave. There was a feeling of sincere reverence while we were walking around. Next was the railway museum, which was rubbish, and then onto the Bridge itself. At either end of the bridge, it's a bit of a circus, with souvenir stands, and even a baby elephant, but once you are walking across it, history does kick in and leaves you feeling quite sad.
