HI, This place is beautiful ! We are staying in a very pretty spot on the estuary called Baan Rim Nam. The place has 3 rooms and is not like the other resorts or backpacker places. I highly reccomend it. Regardless of cost, which is 850 baht a night, it is much more to our liking than a resort could ever be. It is a great way to start on Koh chang as the owner is a very polite and helpful english man. The place is on poles over where the fresh and sea water meet with thousands of hermit crabs. We have a canoe to use and can walk along the boardwalk and be with the other people on the beach in 5 minutes. The beach here in Klong Prao is not full of tourists, ... read more

Hello. Here I am on Ko Chang. We are staying at Maggie's Place, which is an assortment of bamboo bungalows. I have the low end one, where the rats come in at night to watch me sleep. Its not bad tho; im pretty tough. We've been riding motorscooters (driving on the left aint too bad on a bike) to this great beach on the south side of the island. Ive been snorkelling almost every day. Two days ago I was snorkelling back to shore from this coral reef, when this freaky stingray swam right underneath me, and literally missing my chest with its stinger by inches. I know they arent dangerous but it freaked me out. Besides that Ive seen some amazing fish and amazing coral. Yesterday we got ourselves away from the water and into ... read more

Woke up around noon to the sound of Dave's heavy breathing next to me, walked the 20 m to the beach. Looked out into the distance at the surrounding islands. Jumped into the sea. Had two banana's for breakfast. The three of us rented scooters for 200 bhat a day, which is $5. Unreal. They go so so fast, at one time I got it up to over 110 km/hr. It is such an exhilarating feeling, opening up the throttle of a motor bike. You feel so free.(ok i know it is only a scooter but still)We needed some petrol so we kept asking around and people kept pointing in all directions. We stopped again at this shop and asked the man there and he said he had petrol, but this guy is selling bathing costumes. ... read more

Can I firstly appologise for the delay in adding this blog, we've been home for over three weeks now and this page was written a month ago, we struggled to get the photo's on though so had to wait until we got back. Fiona takes up the story from the 10th of December, there will be a final RTW blog answering all the questions that have been asked of us about this trip, I may even add some photo's of the Motherland to complete the set, I'll let Fiona take up the story, cast your mind back a month and think of us lying on the beach, warm sun beating down on us, cool beer in our hands and the gentle sound of the ocean the only noise we can hear..................... Well after much deliberation we ... read more

Hello there my little lovelies! Am writing this from Koh Chang in Thailand which is a national park and guess what? You wont belive it, but the suns been shining, huraah!! Its beautiful here. We have a beach hut right on the beach font. Or rather we did but swapped it for one without a bathroom and on the second row from the beach as it was 1.50 pounds a night each instead of five!! Can't remeber where i last left this, had i just arrived in Bangkok? Yes i think so! Anyway, we found a guesthouse or rather the girls did which was nice on koh San Road and actually quite cheap! The first night we just had tea, i think. The second day we went shopping up Koh San Road which was good, lots ... read more

Hey everyone! We haven't added any new entries for a while so we decided to fill ye in on what we've been up to for the last few months! When we arrived back from Vietnam to Bangkok we stayed for a few nights and met up with Phil and Karl which was a good laugh. Our next stop was the ultimate chilled out island of Koh Chang for some much needed sleep and rest after all the gruelling travelling in Vietnam! We stayed in an area called Lonely Beach (it got this name because this is how it was a few years ago, now it's far from lonely!). Lazing on the beach was fun cos we were constantly in the middle of firedancers, jugglers etc! It seems that all the "alternative" people of the world were ... read more

My initial plan had been to visit Koh Tao again or to have a look at an island at the west coast for a short diving holiday. But bad weather forcast and storms had me decide to go to Koh Chang instead. This was a good choice! Koh Chang is just as beautiful as Koh Tao, the water is unbelievable clear and of turquise color. I stayed in a small wooden hut together with a Swedish girl I had met on the ferry. Diving is a lot more expensive than on Koh Tao. In a small dive shop I finally booked three dives to brush up my diving skills. My last dive had been two years ago already. After the first dive I felt confident again and enjoyed the underwater world. ... read more

Had another quiet day on Ko Chang, cruised around on the hired motorbike exploring, ate at random places, back the porns for an afternoon swim and relaxtion session. Next night I wasn't the designated driver so Bandy took great pleasure in getting me completely hammered. Tequila and Tabasco isn't the best combination at the best of times, combined with a red curry earlier in the day, I was up for trouble in the morning. We even sang some more karaoke before we got too drunk, i think I murdered "the boxer".... read more

After the unfortunate incident of nearly being lynched in the bar we had a quiet day. Wake up, eat a bit of breaky by the sea, take a dip, play a few songs on the verandah, cruise around the island avoiding the occasional showers, went to some waterfall, critise each others driving before heading home for a swim and sunset beer. good times. I went back out later but poor bandy stayed in to complete his hangover cure. Practiced my swedish a bit, got invited to tony's bar the next night. ... read more
