Hey Guys Hope your all well. I'm gonna try and upload some photos - hopefully it will work! We are now back in Bangkok - just me and Nat, although Debs arrives tomorrow so we shouldn't get too bored of each other! My last update was when I was in Koh Samet. Since then we have been to Koh Samuui and Koh Pha Ngan. We flew from Pattaya into Koh Samui which was a stop over before we travelled onto Koh Pha Ngan. Nat was still in Koh Chang so it was just me and Kate. The beaches weren't as nice there so we decided to hire a motorbike for the day. Seemed like a really cool idea - could just picture us - wind blowing through our hair, zooming round the island. Anyway we ... read more

Shopping to be done Tuk Tuk ride: Good vibrations. Bye Bye Kristina. We caught the overnight train from Chiang Mai to Bangkok. It was pretty cool. There are two seats that face one another and you can pop in a table if needed. Then at night they convert the two seats to two sleeper bunks with curtains for a little bit of privacy...or suffocation...depending on how you want to look at it. haha I was opposite Becky (Phew!) and a bunch of us played cards (Gin and Blackjack) to pass the time. Funniest moment was when we were playing Blackjack and Mike joins in. His first hand he keeps asking for cards. So there are now three cards showing. I can't help but ask, "Mike, shouldn't you look at ALL of your cards before asking for ... read more

Wandering the streets Midday sun is scorching hot Retreat to Starbucks. I started my day off by making a quick trip to the Post office to unload about 6 kg of goodies. You'd think my pack would be nice and light...but it is still heavy! Oh well. Not once, not twice but three times in my short time at the post office people thought I was Thai and started to speak to me in Thai. How flattering. :) Before I knew it, it was time to go back to the hotel to say goodbye to Becky who was back to Bath, England. She really fell in love with Cambodia and was oh so tempted to call into work and tell them that she would not be coming back. But reality is she will be saving all ... read more

the winds of travel have blown us to the next city in the series of huge, polluted chaotic centers, this time being bangkok... we've been here for 2 days now, located a little outside the center of downtown at an australian-run hostel. we've seen some live music, some wild dancing, and some uninhibited karaoke. we're off to Chiang Mai tomorrow--a quainter, quieter city up north with a lot of tradition and culture..then Phuket, Ko Samui, Cambodia, and we'll see where else. we'll keep you posted on our future travels of thailand. peace for now, brett... read more

This had to be our longest border run yet…I’m sure by this stage we could have entered the Guinness Book of Records for number and length of crossings in a designated time frame. The day began early as we were picked up in a minivan (the bus we had been promised) with a group of 10 other hopefuls. We headed up the Cambodian coast and towards Thailand. It was a pretty uneventful ride…hot, stuffy, cramped...and finally we were there, at the crossing. We were told to leave our bags in the van and line up to have our passports stamped out of Cambodia. This is one of the many times we were thankful to be born Kiwis. Up ahead of us there was a group of Americans who, try as they might, just could not explain ... read more

Hey guys, how is everyone? All is well with me... I've been in Thailand for two days now, and it is AWESOME!!! We have spent two and a half days shopping, and my feet are so incredibly sore its now funny. Stirling silver rings for 100 Baht - thats about $3, I've already got one package ready to send home... Flight over here was long, didn't realise how long because of the time difference between Thailand and Aussie. Movies were alright, I finally got to see Shark Tale, yey! Food was great, they gave us tim tams, which kept us all amused. The language barrier isn't too bad, everyone is always ready to help out. I'm learning... slowly. That is, until I head off to India in 2 and a half weeks, when it all changes ... read more

So im in Yangshauo and decide its too bloody cold so i head off to Hong Kong. arriving in Hong Kong its equally cold- this is a major let down. However i dutifully sight see for about a day, the next day i head off to Macau (ex-Porugese concession, its a bit strange to see signs everywhere in Portugese) hang out there for a bit then take a cheap flight (30 pounds) to bangkok. Getting off the plane was like walking into a sauna it was crazy- i thought the engines were still on or something as it was night time and hotter than i think its ever been a home. Anyway i was forced to throw away most of my backpack- but tshirts and shorts and the like are ever so cheap here so is ... read more

After the Perhentian islands we headed up to Khota Bharu and crossed the border into Thailand. From where we got a 4 hour minibus ride to Hat Yai and an overnight bus to Bangkok. We stayed in 'Ýour home' guest house in Soy Kasem San and this is where we had our first hot shower for ages. It was bliss and when the Chicken cashew was washed down by a Singh beer later I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. We ate with Kate and Shaun from Basingstoke that evening whome we had arranged to meet. They had just arrived back from 4 weeks in Phukett and were looking very tanned and relaxed. Seems like they had a wonderful time there. Afterwards we went and got a Massage from nearby their posh hotel. We all ... read more

Walking since morning Nice fruit break for lunchtime meal Lots of stuff to see! Well, I got an early start this morning. Grabbed a quick bite for breakfast...nothing too spectacular but scrambled eggs, sausage and toast for a buck...can't complain too much! So after consuming my cheap vittles I headed out with a sketchy map provided by the hotel. I figured I had the whole day to explore so I just headed in the general direction of the Wat Pho...the largest temple in Bangkok. It is also home to this huge golden reclining Buddha. I tried taking a picture but since my flash doesn't really reach THAT far it was kinda dark. Then I got the brilliant idea to shell out a few baht for a postcard of the darn thing. I wandered around the temple ... read more

Bonster in Bangkok I'm in a new country now Driver on the right side! Okay, just a quick note to let y'll know that I arrived safe and sound in Bangkok. I left my hotel in HCM City around 9:30 and didn't get to my hotel here in Bangkok until close to 4PM! And it was only a 1 hour 10 minute flight! DOH! Well, I got to the HCM airport without much fanfare. It was once I got out of the taxi that things were a bit crazy. People everywhere. Luggage everywhere. Nobody really moving. My first thought was "where the hell is the entrance for passengers?" After a few minutes I figured it all out and made my way towards the first of many x-ray machines. It's just crazy. I think the Vietnamese do ... read more
