Geo: 1.28941, 103.85Caught the Bus to the Zoo at 9.30am from Suntec and we have finally managed to navigate, the underground tunnels which are incredible and more going on underground than above. Our bus ticket ran out today at 2.30pm, so we figured we would be ready to come back by then anyway. The ticket inspector talked us into seeing the Gardens by the Bay Lights display at 7.45pm and second stop by train from Suntec, the bus run stops at 6.30pm, sounded good. The Zoo was incredible, saying it again about the Singapore experience and it took the bus 30 minutes to get there. Took the Tram from one point to another and saw everything we wanted to see, I just love the animals in this place and the room they have to move, rather then ... read more

Geo: 1.28941, 103.854th October, 2016Up at 7.30am for a swim this morning and off to Suntek Station to catch a bus and have a look at the Observation Deck of Skypark, we were hoping to go to the Zoo but that bus was not leaving for another half hour. This place was truly amazing, we stepped off the Red Bus at the Marina Bay Sands and could not walk to the area to get to the Observation Deck of Skypark because the cleaners where cleaning the footpath. Instead we took a lift up and a security guard advised us to walk around the Gardens by the Bay and when we return the cleaners would be finished. We took a walk into a place that was so different and incredible, found a cart to take us to where we ... read more

Geo: 1.28941, 103.852nd October, 2016 We keep going into Raffles City and come out at different entrances we have not seen, which can be blocks away. The underground is a hive of everything you can think off, just extraordinary. Bought a pass for three days on Hippo Tours which travel the city and we can hop on and off when ever we want. Sunday in Orchard Road was crowded with the Domestic workers who have the Sunday off, so will check that one out another time. Hopped off at the Botanical Gardens, needing more water before exploring, Mick's feet had felt sore and while he waited for me to get the bottles of water took his shoes off and has 4 big blisters two on each foot so back to the Hotel on the next bus ... read more

Geo: 1.35221, 103.991Left Melbourne at 1105 an hour earlier then what we had been told and an air hostess came looking for us, running most of the way to get to the plane, I tripped up twice. Pretty sure it had something to do with the beverages I had at O'Relies! We were at the airport by 6.30pm and still nearly missed the plane. We arrived at 5.15am, in Singapore and 31c with rain, caught a taxi to the Mecure Roxy Hotel and were picked up by another taxi to meet the tour bus to the Zoo. We saw a lot of Singapore because the Taxi driver could not find the tour bus. Very impressed with how clean the city is and green, really lovely and the people have been very helpful. The Zoo was amazing ... read more

6th of July 2016 -- the day I had been patiently waiting for since my visa got approved in April, but one that had also come around too quickly. I was finally living THE dream! Anyone that has had the pleasure of knowing me in the last 10 years, would certainly know that I've always wanted to base myself in London on a working holiday as a gateway to the rest of Europe -- however life constantly got in the way (boys, jobs, responsibilities, Eurotrip 2013, fear of taking the leap, money etc etc...) -- therefore, with only myself to worry about and the feeling of being stuck in a rut, my New Year's resolution was to be in London by September. And I did it! After some hard core saving, I was able to apply ... read more

Geo: 1.3, 103.85 After a none eventful flight home (thankfully) we arrived at Heathrow at 05:30 and what do we discover, only one customs official for UK/ EU passport holders. The E passport quick lanes were supervised by four officials but we couldn't use them because we had children with us, the lanes for none EU travellers had SIX manned desk all with officers sat there twiddling their thumbs, as a consequence our single lane snaked around and around the barriers with everyone fuming, welcome home ! When we finally get to the gate the officer asks are we all related, yes, we said, have you a letter from the children's parents permitting travel? YES we said, we were able to leave the country without checks or problems but try and get back in you have ... read more

Geo: 1.3, 103.85It's now 5 days since my (for want of a better word illness) and I'm still no better and feeling weaker as each day passes and certainly I'm not looking forward to the 12hr or so flight home. Jacob was upset this morning as there were no pancakes at the buffet today, so he settled for cereals, and fresh fruit followed by pastries all washed down with fruit juice and coffee, the rest of us had a wonderful breakfast again with lashings of fresh fruit. After breakfast Shell took the kids to the pool whilst Linda completed the last packing of the cases and it was off to the pharmacy for me. When I get there, it was more like a pharmaceutical warehouse than a store, after 5 mins I had to give up ... read more

Geo: 1.3, 103.85One of the best buffet breakfasts I've ever seen was on display in the restaurant this morning all tastes were catered for from English, Eastern, Indian, Chinese and everything in between, along with every type of fruit. The only complaint was some of the guests had never been taught manners and barged their way through to the front pushing kids aside even Jacob and Sophie said how rude they were, after everyone bar myself were sated we set off to get the Metro to the Harbour Front. Having arrived there Michelle decide the shortest walk across to Sentosa was by cable car despite her fear of heights, once again Jake sat with her and talked to her all the way across, what a star. The first thing the kids saw on the island was ... read more

Singapore is the homeland of several interesting Amicus colleagues. It is also on the way from Darwin to Iceland, so stopping by for a quick visit was easy. Very easy. All signs are in English and Chinese and Malay and Tamil, so we could read. English is everyone’s common language, so we could speak easily to locals. There are many hawkers food courts and quirky vegetarian restaurants so the food was tasty, cheap and delicious (except for the durian). Lush tropical gardens are everywhere, cultural diversity is enshrined and Singapore is a clean, wealthy, modern country. We arrived for National Day Celebrations, so there were lots of exciting celebrations to enjoy. Caroline and Kevin were generous hosts – allowing us to visit a school, their home and a fabulous vegetarian restaurant. A fleeting visit, but informative. ... read more

Geo: 1.3, 103.85Well there's no change in my condition which is a bit worrying but there it is. After a leisurely start we loaded the mini bus for the last time and set off to the hire depot in Brisbane, I must admit was expecting an argument over the state of the vehicle. We pulled into the car hirer's checking bay and was immediately welcomed by a smiling representative I apologised for the state of the vehicle and told him I thought the Melbourne office had done the dirty on them and palmed them off with their worst vehicle, he looked over the original defect sheet and we walked around the mini bus together with him going erm, ooh, argh. As we completed the inspection he turned to me, gave me a knowing smile and said ... read more
