The Gardens by the Bay
Heading to the Cloud Forest Conservatorium Geo: 1.28941, 103.85
4th October, 2016
Up at 7.30am for a swim this morning and off to Suntek Station to catch a bus and have a look at the Observation Deck of Skypark, we were hoping to go to the Zoo but that bus was not leaving for another half hour.
This place was truly amazing, we stepped off the Red Bus at the Marina Bay Sands and could not walk to the area to get to the Observation Deck of Skypark because the cleaners where cleaning the footpath. Instead we took a lift up and a security guard advised us to walk around the Gardens by the Bay and when we return the cleaners would be finished.
We took a walk into a place that was so different and incredible, found a cart to take us to where we could get tickets to get into the Cloud Forest Conservatory and because we are seniors our tickets were $16 each instead of $28 each. It pays to get old and we aged by two years today!
There are two Cooled Conservatories so we chose one to see today and it was 7 stories high, the two showcase 500,000 plants from 2,200 species native to every continent
The Marina Sands
Observation Deck 56 floors, a long way off the ground! except Antarctica. Super trees - towering vertical gardens that extend right into the sky absolutely inspiring and a wonder to experience.
We left the Conservatory and made our way to the Sands Skypark Observation Deck where you could see the whole of Singapore, once again the Seniors ticket saved us $8 each. Well worth the look and 56 Stories off the ground, both of us felt a touch of virdigo, but truly a wonderful experience.
We then caught another Red Bus to Chinatown which reminded us very much of Thailand and the markets we saw there. The Food Street was incredible with all types of food you could want and it had become very hot so food was not something we needed. Headed down a few little streets with all sorts of items for sale, found some locals very pushy so we kept going. Mick had one man ask him to come into his shop and look at Jewellery, Mick said no not interested and the man changed is speach to what he thought was Australian, quite funny to hear.
Trying to find shade was difficult so we headed back to where we caught the Bus back to Raffles and
Entrance of the Cloud Forest Conservatory
Photo in front of the waterfall at the entrance had some lunch at 2pm. Once again our feet were killing us with the walking and the heat so both of us were glad to get back to the hotel to rest.
