Not quite sure what all the fuss is about. Climb 29,000 feet sure, we did it three times. Well in my dreams. So we had an amazing last 11 days trekking in the Himalayas. Had a few set backs, but it was yeah amazing. We flew in to the town/village of Lukla on a 19 seater "Twin Otter" propeller plane(quite an interestingly steep and short runway) on the 11th of June. From there we had a small breakfast and started walking. We continued walking until the afternoon of the 21st when we decided to sit and return back to Kathmandu. The most beautiful views and vistas I have ever seen. Friendliest most welcoming people and some very delicious meals of daal bhat. Daal Bhat is what the Nepali people in most cases eat two times a ... read more

What a morning,Pompey FA Cup winners , and me off on a flight around the mountains of the Himalayas, I don't think it gets much better than this ( apart from having to get up at 5am). Well I wish I could say that I saw the cup final - but I don't think my luck is in at the moment with the beautiful game - we had one of the seemingly daily power cuts in Kathmandu, that started just before kick off and lasted for most of the game. I did however manage to find an internet cafe that was running on it's own generators and managed to listen to radio commentary via the interweb. The flight over the Himalayas lasted for about an hour, but for the whole time the views were spectacular, and ... read more

Hello everyone!! I just realised that the blog I wrote after meditation never got published! I am publishing it now, so sorry for the delay!! Anyway, after meditation, I went trekking on a trail called Langtang! It was sooo beautiful, but really tiring. I started out at a little village called Syabru Besi, and basically followed the trail up to the Himalayas from there. It took three days for me to reach my final destination, Kyanjing Gumpa, a village in the middle of the mountains, with the most amazing views. It was excellent but at points, my legs felt like they were hanging by a string! We had to ascend about 1000m a day, so there was alot of climbing, and we'd walk for maybe 7 or 8 hours a day- which is really something for ... read more

So here goes Part 3!! Some of the other amazing things we have seen (see facebook for more pictures) included walking through a memorial, graveyard of types for those who have died attempting to summit mount Everest. It was an eerie place to be, especially to see names that are so famous for their attempts yet didn't return. I think the statistic is that 1 in 4 people die on Mount Everest because either they don't turn back when they should, or a storm or monsoon comes up and they can't get back. There were many prayer flags and rock piles commemorating those who have perished, including many Sherpa's. Some are large monuments with names, others are just symbolic of someone. When we got to basecamp it was very full. Over 500 people there waiting for ... read more

Nepal, Kathmandu, Everest Base Camp and the Himalayas February 2008 1/2/08 Kathmandu It’s been a lively couple of days. The VzB sales kick-off took a surreal turn as the CBA deal was announced and we were all brought on stage. Partying in the rain, and then flying back to Hong Kong. Best day of my VzB career. Courtney Davies is in my flat, and an early flight to Bangkok. Bangkok to Kathmandu, with views of Everest from the plane. Long check-out / visa process, and then into the city. First capital I’ve been to without one skyscraper. Dust everywhere, real poverty and a few white hippies. There are a surprising number of girls travelling alone. Went to the Thamel district…tourist kack everywhere. Bought hiking kit. Altitude (at present) not bad. The whole place is very ... read more

Nous avons commence a 820m ... read more
