It's just today that suddenly I feel like going back to Nepal to do Everest Base Camp and other side trek like Kalapathar, Chola Pass, and may be Island Peak Summit. I only have lesser than 2 weeks preparation, and now I'm trying to schedule it for beginning May arrival in Kathmandu and start right away from Lukla. I would be very lucky, if I can hook up with travel buddies along the way that wanna do the same trek with me because I don't really wanna go with a group. Anyway,,, if I dont get any responses on this post soon, I will still try to manage it by myself... hopefully meeting interesting people along the way. Here is my itenerary, althought it's not yet final since I haven't included Island Peak Summit because I'm ... read more

Hmmm....I was thinking about writing this blog for a long time. So many things have happened, so many emotions, from tears to euphoria in few minutes. So many memories ones that I will remember to the end of my days, ones that I would like to forget, erase just right now. This trip was the biggest school of life I ever had. This trip was the hardest workout I have ever done for so long. This trip was a school of a will power, decision making, motivation, understanding and appreciating life. If you r looking for a day to day itinerary, facts, stop in here and save yourself time. I want to express emotions - because, they were the biggest part of this trip. I had mixed feeling about this expedition, about leaving Poland for ... read more

Labouche-Namchee Bazaar Day 9 It was a very cold night again -15 inside my tent so was very happy to quickly be on my way and walking to generate some body heat. Within a short time I warmed up and found myself flying along, wow! I am a walking machine, tak, tak, tak, tak, the more I descend the stronger I feel, my body must have got well acclimatized and now I feel as though I have twice as many resources at hand. I march along at full speed, enjoying the way my body is feeling and watching the scenery drift past. I plough up the hills like I have nitrous oxide fitted to my thighs and do not want to stop for anything. I am enjoying the ride so much, the rapidly changing scenery and ... read more

Namaste! My trip to lovely Nepal was several years ago and I went specifically to do the Everest Base Camp with World Expeditions (who I highly recommend). I was based in Kathmandu to begin with and I remember discovering the Casino that night and the “free drinks”, enough said. Needless to the the 5 am start the next morning was not very welcome. We flew into Lukla for the start of the trek and there was a big military presence due to the Maoists hiding out in the mountains, where I would be trekking. Every day there was something new on the trek I remember being quite high in altitude and passing a pub just hanging over the cliff face with full size pool table inside (probably the only thing keeping it held down). At the ... read more

Well the time had come for me to go for a dream of mine that I had wanted to do for such a long time, I was heading to Mt Everest Base Camp. I was going to be going solo but at the Kathmandu airport I bumped into another lad from the US and he was planning to do the same sort of thing so we teamed up and headed on our way. The flight in Lukla where the hike starts was interesting and a look on youtube and type in Lukla alot of things will come up with the airstrip and the bad things that have happened there and only 2 months before we arrived there as well. Anyway we headed of on our hike and first day we made it Monjo and this was ... read more

Now I wait here in Katmandu, for my Indian visa whilst pollution builds up once again in my lungs, just two more days in Katmandu and I think I will be dead, suffocating on the infected fluids of my own lung lining, but just a bit longer then we are out of here. I cannot wait to get going the pollution here is the worst I have come across. I look down from a temple high up above the city, a sprawling mass of concrete for as far as I can see, a 360 degree sea of noise, filth and fumes. I plan to go to Jiri which is the starting point to a trek to Everest base camp, it follows the original route that the first explorers used on their attempts on Everest. I feel ... read more

Greetings folks! Having just returned from the Mt. Everest trek, I realize that it's been a little while since my last posting here. A lot has transpired, but I'll ty to keep it brief here and just stick to the main events. Since my last entry, my friend Elaine and I headed back from Pokhara to Katmandu (about 185 km east) to line up our permits and make necessary arrangements to begin our trek to Mt. Everest (i.e. Sagarmatha) base camp at about 17,000-ft elevation. Our journey got off to an inauspicious start with me battling a vicious but thankfully short-lived boute of food poisoning (bad goat meat) and a fairly rough bus transit back to Katmandu. I think that since my last trip to/from Katmandu, the road workers have been industriously installing new pot-holes in ... read more

There's only so much you can write about trekking before you start to sound like an anorak, and only so much you can read about it before it becomes tedious. Having already written three fairly detailed trekking accounts, I don't particularly feel like writing too much about how beautiful the Himalayas are. So here are some of the choice photos from our two week trek in Langtang National Park, you can see for yourself. ... read more
