Budicek az po 9/00. Host zo vcera je uz prec, dnes ma prist 7 anglanov. Ocakavam teda bandu ozralcov. Pre mna su najhorsi anglani, cinania a rusaci. Majitel ma ponukol ranajkami, caj, neake pecivo a jahody. Mensi pokec o slovensku, furt si ho mylil so slovinskom. V obchode kupujem na cestu neake tie snacky a smer plaz. Padam do piesku a relax. Zacinaju padat prve ... read more

Robotnici zberaju riasy, odpadky (skoro ziadne su tu neni), traktorom preosievaju piesok, buduju nove slnecniky. Dvaja chalani tu vytycuju aj neaky usek, som zvedavy co tam bude, tipujem to na lehatka. ... read more

Rano rozlucka s CS a podme ho na free bus. Do hotela vchadzam vrchnym vchodom od stanice Citizens Square. Na bus zatial cakam iba ja, vacsina ludi nastupuje do objednanych taxikov. Prichadza bus, luci sa so mnou jeden poslicek co nakladal veci do taxi :) V buse sme az 4 pasazieri. Do odchodu busu mi ostava neaka ta hodinka. Vlak sa pomalicky zaplna ... read more

Takze smer Osaka. Vlak dost plny, hlavne skolaci a pracanti. Kancelarske krysy tu maju tiez rovnake uniformy teda obleky a japonky kostimceky. V osake (stanica SHINIMAMIYA) bezproblemovy prestup na expres smer hashimoto (nankai linia). Musel som si len prepipnut kartu, bo som menil spolocnost jr za nankai. Vo vlaku zvacsa len skolaci v roznych uniformach. Na konecnu stanicu prichadza vlak takmer prazdny. Cestu som skoro celu prespal. Na stanici sa pytam vypravcu ci mozem nastupit dovlaku, nie nie, tento ide nazad do osaky, treba ist cca 25m dalej, tam na rovnakej kolaji pride vlak do kudoyma. Vlak prisiel, vypra ... read more

We got up around 5:40-5:45 am. I had slept really well. The temple is quite noisy, as the building is old, and the floors are pretty creaky when people are walking about. I had woken a couple of times during the night, once around 11:30 pm and then again at 2 am. There's nothing nicer than waking up, looking at the clock and then realising that you still have hours left in bed. The room was a little cool and I quickly put on my clothes and we headed towards the meditation room, stopping off at the toilet on the way. Some people were brushing their teeth and washing their faces, far too much effort for so early in the morning. There was a monk at the entrance to the mediation room and she had a ... read more

I had tried to get a few hour shut eye on the bench near my check-in desk. However Incheon is a bloody noisy airport, so when they started setting up the barriers and I saw that the desks would open at 4:50, I headed to the bathroom to change and sort my face out. I was impressed with t'ways (the airline I was flying with), that they opened check-in three hours before departure, Jeju Air and the other budget carriers only open two hours before. There was only a small queue and I had checked my luggage and got my boarding pass pretty quickly. I always fly out early on Chuseok morning, but this time I was flying out earlier and it wasn't as busy as it gets later. I got through baggage inspection and immigration ... read more

So süß!

As I parted ways with Kyoto, it was a pleasant farewell as I was looking forward to expanding my introduction to Japanese Buddhism. Koyasan was first settled in 819 by a monk named Kukai and is the birthplace of the Shingon sect of Japanese Budhism also known as Esotentric Buddhism. I hopped on the train which began to wind it's way through the mountains. It was nice to get above sea level and as the ceder trees began to line the tracks, it felt a little bit like home. It was cool to see some rural mountain Japanese homes dotted throughout the hills as well. The train reached the end of the line and it was time to ride the cable car up to Koyasan, which was an experience in itself. I managed to find the ... read more

Spring Equinox, A Day to Visit Graves March 20, 2014 So this official holiday actually takes place on the twenty-first, but I decided to make my trip to Wakayama to visit Obachan’s gave today since Ellen has the day off tomorrow for the holiday. Leaving Kure at 5:00 in the morning, I got to Gobo, the nearest JR station at 10:44, after taking the shinkansen to Osaka and an express train to the Wakayama area. It was raining and I was glad to have brought an umbrella. It’s about an hour walk to Minami-Shioya, and on the way I stopped by a market stand to get flowers and oranges. I had a short conversation with the man there and explained that I was Nikkei-American going to visit an ancestor at the ohaka. I guess ... read more
