Selamat Malam... I was able to convince a new friend of mine to join me on vacation. Most of the newbies wanted to stay around Jakarta for the holidays and get more established before school started. Jakarta is a city with one of the largest populations in the world – certainly in Asia. During this Muslim holiday millions of people leave the city so it’s actually a great time to explore the local hot spots as the time you spend in traffic gets cut down in half. As tempting as it was to stick around, I figured I could experience the close destinations on weekends. I really wanted to get out of Jakarta and see a different part of Indonesia. There were three of us who traveled together. A girl I met here, but also her friend from ... read more

... read more

Sometimes you know when you are getting yourself into a mess. Trust me, I have gotten myself into jams so many times (and more often than not, knowingly) but the ones that hurt the most are the times when you envision yourself to be the ass kicker only to walk away hobbled and broken. Enter Mt. Ranjani. Yes, I had heard the stories of the freezing summits and bone-chilling nights. I had heard about the scrambley talus slopes that make even the best footwear a rather desperate but yet redundant expense. I had heard that at 3700 meters, that many, if not the majority of those who started would turn back, never reaching its summit. And I heard about the days of leg pain that would be a complimentary gift of the mountain lasting for days ... read more

Wellenreiten oder s... read more

Day 279 (Thurs 13thJune) With my flight at 6am and check in from 4am I decided I would stay awake all night and then when I get to wherever I end up I would sleep the day away. I walked around trying to find a plug socket to charge my computer and keep me entertained for the evening. There was nothing in the domestic terminal but I found one in the international. I sat on the floor watching a film and various episodes of the big bang theory as hundreds of, I’d guess Australians came through the terminal, all with blonde hair, tans and surfboards. At around midnight I headed back to the domestic terminal and sat in the closed KFC dining area and continued my films and tv night. At 4am I headed for check ... read more

So I haven't done this since KL which was 2 countries ago, this could be a long one. We spent 5 days in KL; most people we have met don't rate the city that much but I reckon if they had the tips we did they'd change their tune. My big sis lived there so we got the insider info on what to do which was awesome. We saw Iron Man 3 (meh) in the Pavilion cinema which is at the top of a huge mall, its well bling! Best cinema trip ever – reclining leather armchairs, blankets and waiter service just a button away, all for £12! We also went to the Sky Bar on top of a snazzy hotel and had free cocktails and saw the Petronas Towers and we went to an indoor ... read more

We are currently in Ubud (Bali) but stories and pics from up to Gili Islands... Trip so far: BALI - Kuta (unfortunately) >Sanur > Nusa Lembongan > LOMBOK - Gili Trawangan > Gili Meno > Senggigi > BALI - Padangbai > Ubud We started the trip in Kuta, a shithole to say the least. Imagine a really nice beach with about 7000 people on it, beside it a Starbucks, KFC, McDonalds and Tony Romas of all things. Thank goodness we had a great hotel to decompress, avoid the westernized madhouse and get rid of the jetlag. Made the choice to head over to Nusa Lembongan after that, it was a great choice. Ended up staying in the super nice part (Mushroom Bay) for super cheap. Had a place right on the amazing beach and just relaxed ... read more

We always knew we wanted to spend the last part of our trip on a beach, so that we could go home with good tans and feel relaxed, and since we decided a few weeks back to make Indonesia our last country, we couldn't think of a better place in the sun to end our beach time than the beautiful Gili islands. Once we managed to tear ourselves away from lovely Ubud and got a good deal on tickets for the fast boat, which was very smooth, we arrived on Gili Trawangan, the biggest of the three Gili islands (although it is only 7km around the whole island so still very small). As soon as we got off the boat and saw the crystal clear waters and white sand, we remembered just how much we had ... read more

23 May - Gili Air I had my alarm set for super early this morning , so by 7am I was at breakfast and by quarter past I was on my way to do a loop of the island, the plan being to try to avoid the stifling heat that would come later in the morning. I headed off to the east initially, an anti clockwise loop of the island. Stopped at a small cafe in the Far East/north side of the island for a fresh juice and a break before continuing my stroll, taking lots of photos along the way and even going for a quick dip, well, kind of before I realized I was just being belted with coral and harsh sand on the north/ north west side of the island! Continuing around, I ... read more
