Well finally after a few days i have made it on here have just been so busy plunging in the pool sipping Bingtang and collecting as much sun as possible. But all has been amazing. As you would have been reading plenty of fun has been had by all and i couldn't say more about the villa. Days have been prefect here lots of sun and not too humid and even when we do get warm like i said "PLUNGE". Has been great over the last few days catching up with friends and introducing Aly to them some of the crew here i have not seen in 4 years so there has been plenty of laughing and a few drinks here and there. Of course as we are here for the wedding which is actually today ... read more

So I usually try to tell myself the jetlag thing is just in my head and the more I think about it the worse it is, it’s like the whole altitude sickness I felt in Peru…right…right, nausea had overcome me and there was no meditating or “thinking” myself out of this one. It happened right after we spent a few hours on the roof-deck and immediately the room was spinning and I had no appetite. Yes that’s right, me of all people, someone who can eat whenever food is offered, actually didn’t want to put anything near my mouth. I powered through though, Al feeling great helped me along my moans and groans and we made it to the airport en route to Bali. We ended up on a flight with the end destination Perth, and ... read more

So it's been awhile and this is my last post before we head home tomorrow morning. Although I haven't written in over a week, I figured I better finish off the trip by writing something. The last week has been a perfect ending to our trip (yes, despite the enticing prospects of becoming surfer bums and living in bali sipping banana milkshakes for the rest of our lives, we have decided to come home). From Sanur, we went back to Seminyak and Kuta beach. Although we had spent 5 days here previously, we needed to make up our surf lessons that we missed, and really you can never enjoy enough beach time. Over the last week we have taken advantage of many of the great restaurants that Seminyak has to offer, which has been really tasty. ... read more

Hello people Just thought I'd give everyone an update on how things are going in Bali. Well up until a couple of days ago we were both having a lovely time. We've got a really cool apartment/villa on the outskirts of busy Kuta which is the tourist hub of Bali. We are much happier being here coz it's fairly quiet and has a nice community feel about it. I've been getting on with my painting as planned and Matt's been enjoying the surf with a cool break about 500 metres down the road. Sweet! Got a lovely communal swimming pool too which I've been taking full advantage of. Being a little way out we had to get some form of transportation and the roads here are crazy so a car was kind of out of the ... read more

We've spent most of yesterday and today hanging around the pool at our hotel. The majority of our routine has rotated between sunbathing, napping, swimming and getting more drinks. It's the rough life, I know. Today I was reflecting that every single late night at the Sultan was absolutely worth it to be able to take in this little bit of Paradise. The last couple of days have also been low key because we've spent both mornings going back to the clinic for follow-up on Adam's arm. The first day we initially went to the clinic (when he was prescribed the antibiotics), the abscess on his arm had not yet matured and they said that if it matured we should come back to have it cleaned out. The following day (yesterday), it did mature so we ... read more

I am typing this message from Adam's iPhone using the wifi network at our hotel. I'm sitting on a recliner by the pool sipping a diet coke (diet coke was nowhere to be found for the first two months of the trip, so I've been having a daily worship session every day since Malaysia). Adam is currently in our room sleeping off medication drowsiness. We made another trip to a clinic here in Bali for a new abscess on his elbow. This time he got an antibiotic injection, oral antibiotics and cream. This was quite a different experience than Vietnam. We went to a private travelers clinic that is Aussie owned and operated. They were practically serving us wine and cheese while we waited. God bless health insurance because they include the refreshment costs in the ... read more

After "travel and discovery" around the island, for the remaining days was our "relax and easy" moment. We spent the following few days at Seminyak area which consider as 2nd high end area after Nusa Dua. Over here offering you a different concept of accomodation, it is "Villa" type. Our choice was "Villa Seminyak", as shown in the photographs the villas were built along the swimming pool, meaning that a long swimming just infront of your door, just "jump and swim". Whereas inside our unit, there are 2 levels. Ground floor is for living hall, pantry & bath room and 1st Floor for bedroom. Seminyak beach located approximately 15 - 20mins walking distance away from our villa. The beach is wide and long enough, as usual many restaurants, bars and stalls are there, meaning that you ... read more

Beautiful Bali Saturday 31st January 2009 Last Saturday we were snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef and now we are sitting in a shady tropical Balinese garden; it requires quite a cultural adjustment. We are staying in a “losman” (small traditional hotel around a courtyard garden) in Seminyak on the south west coast of Bali about 5 kilometres north of the tourist hub of Kuta. It is beautiful, laid back, chilled, hot, humid, and exhausting! The hotel is adorned with stone sculptures, wooden Hindu goddesses covered in gilt, woven bamboo screens and wooden roof tiles. It is old; a little jaded around the edges, cheap and absolutely charming, as are the owners and staff, charming that is, not old and jaded! We are on the second floor with views to the mountains (only seen between the ... read more

Seht selbst... :)... read more
