Hi everyone, Well last time I wrote i was in Phi Phi, we left there and went onto Phuket on 3rd of March. However when we were on the boat waiting for the boat to leave I remembered that i hadnt emptied the safe in our hotel room which had the tickets, passports, money, mp3 player and everything in (not a smart move). So James volunteered to get off the boat go back and get my stuff out of the safe then catch the next boat to Phuket - I now double check the safe whenever i leave somewhere! While in Phuket the girls convinced me to go to the doctors about my sunburn because my leg and foot were so swollen and i had big blisters around my ankle so it made it difficult to ... read more

Sorry for the BLOG-LAG... I did not want to publish this one until I had the pictures to go along with it... this is an entry fro mid-June... if you are EVER in Bali, I seriously recommend this place. Ask for Stuart, the owner, and tell him I sent you! --------------------------------------- http://www.theahimsa.com/ You never know what is next. I was planning to check into the Conrad hotel when I returned to Bali, as I was telling Stuart, a guy I met on the BKK - Denpesar flight. He agreed that it is a nice hotel and offered invited me to stay at his hotel, Ahimsa some time. I said how about tonight? Arriving at Ahimsa is a bit of a shock - there you are on a busy road, a sudden left and then peaceful temple-like ... read more

Day 1 This is my second time to Bali. Instead of staying at Four Seasons, Ubud, Jo and I stayed at the Oberoi at Seminyak. This hotel is been around over 20 years. I must say it has a lot of character. I particular like the fact that it is right in front of the Seminyak beach and the sound of the waves is astonishing. The garden view lanais is acceptable but it's kind of small. However, it gives you a personal touch on small details like all the shampoo, conditioner, body lotion and bath gel are inserted into small glass bottles rope with labels. They are re-usable hence a bit wore out. There are 3 candle stands place around the bath tub below the ground. Lavender soaps and even shower cap are wiped with leaves. ... read more

Marilyn and friends sent me off in style with a lovely brunch on Sunday, wine, champagne, beautiful Italian meal in the garden. A last supper of sorts. Then off to Bali. I arrived in the dark and had no idea of the paradise that awaited. My hotel is in Seminyak on the beach. I was greeted with a smile and followed down a winding path lit with lights amongst tropical trees, small fish ponds... I fell asleep to the sound of tree frogs and awoke very early to the sound of song birds, the crashing waves in the distance and smell of incense. I took a walk on the beach as the sun was rising (~7:30 am everyday since we are at the equator) and watched some local fishermen on the beach and out in boats. ... read more

Hello, We are leaving tonight for Bangkok. Lisa and Ben and their children, Daniel and Olivia, left last night and we will miss their company. We have Ay-lou looking after Jetson in the villa now, while we come to the internet cafe in Seminyak...... luxury. The Pearls and some of the gems are good and well priced here, so I am going to buy some to bring home and hopefully will come back to meet up with Lisa next year again if she would like to, to design and make some items for sale. I think I have some great ideas to run with. It has been great to be invited into her environment here and to see her skills at work. The people are very friendly, and although the tourism has dropped off, the inner ... read more

HI, We have been having an awsome time with our friends Lisa Ben and their children Olivia and Daniel. The place we are staying in is a beautiful house with staff to cook and help look after the children, and a pool. We are swimming everyday, eating well and having massages ! The weather is hot, so the water is lovely. Have had a few rides on the back of the moterbikes that ben and John have hired, but I am not letting Jetson on then as the drivers are crazy. We are about 15 minutes crazy bike ride from Kuta, in amongst the rice fields with the cows and chickens. Will send more news in a couple of days. xx Hope everyone is well. Lou P.s. The photo attached to this is huge. If it ... read more

Hello dear peeps! I have just returned to "civilization", so here's a note to let you know that I am well and safe in Bail. I'm back in Seminayak (where I stayed the first night). Flora, Shanti and I stayed the last two nights in Amed (east Bali) in a dive called the Three Brothers Bungalows. The view was amazing and the bungalows were only about 3 meters from the ocean. Black sand. Amazing views of the volcanos, especially G. Agung. Met an ear to ear smiling 10 year old named Made . He walked with us on the beach and was so proud to introduce us to his father who was coming in from fishing in his boat. The father invited us to their home, apologising that he had nothing to offer us (to drink, ... read more

I made it to Bali! The flight was extremely pleasant, though my luggage was delayed a little bit. Speaking of luggage, I packed all the WRONG things. I had absolutely no way to conceptualize the temperature and humidity here while I was in England. When I packed I thought maybe 20% of my clothes would be unnecessarily warm for this climate. More like 80% wrong. Just thinking about carrying those clothes around makes me sweat. My hotel last night was pleasant, though the air conditioner didn't really work. The good news is that my hair and my skin love it. For all the moisturizer I had to slather on my skin in Europe, now I am considering lightening my load by throwing it away. After I checked into the hotel I took a walk on the ... read more
