Ok guys so i'm in Bali....it's a little scary here when you're on your own, as the locals are very adament that you buy something from them....so much that they start walking with you and touching your arm to try and get you into their shop!! It's OK though as there are plenty of people around and so I don't think much could happen to me - touch wood!!hehe I've not done too much since i've been here...relaxed and did a bit of shopping and walking along the beach on my first day....where by the way I am famous!! Oh yes...two groups of kinds came up and asked to have their photo taken with me!! I guess it's because of my amazing white skin, just makes me irresistible :P They can't understand why people want to ... read more

If you like Cancun Mexico you might like it here.... I for one do not like beach towns with booming bars and every merchant you pass grabbing you and trying anything they can to sell you something! Maybe 10-20 years ago this place would be fun but now...not so much. We have hooked up with a British/female run dive shop near by in Seminyak (AquaMarine Diving) and will be spending on night here in Seminyak before going diving tomorrow then moving east about 85K to Candi Dasa (laid back place with white sand beaches) we have arranged to make 8 dives over the next 7 days (2 a day with a day off in between) in more of the best dive sites in the world. We will be visiting a couple of wrecks including the USS ... read more

What's up Montrealers....I think its time for some more Asian stories. Heard the weather's getting better in Montreal, so now you don't have to be too jealous that my stories are mostly set on beaches! Somehow I find it pretty impossible to make plans here and actually follow through with them...so we've done nothing i said i would do last time i wrote. Kim and I spent another few weeks in Thailand, we went to ko lanta, an island I've never been to before, so it was nice to check out something different. then we made our way to Ko Phangan, the location of the infamous full moon party (which I've been to before, but who can pass up the opportunity to party till morning on a beach with 20,000 people!!). it wasn't as easy to ... read more

I haven't written my blog in quite sometime, mainly because I've been in Bali for over two weeks and I don't usually finish a blog until I leave a particular area. haha! Thanks for all the concerned emails! I'm fine. Bali and Indonesia as a whole are super safe and nothing to worry about ;) Our luxury bus from our recent spot around Mount Bromo on Java to the tropical island of Bali boarded a great big ferry boat. Excitement and anticipation was overwhelming me and I couldn't wait for the 11 hour trip to be over. I took a seat in the sunshine on the top deck and saw a couple of kids about 12 years old sitting on the railing, about 40 feet high from the ocean. As the ferry blew it's horn 3 ... read more

Geo: -8.72412, 115.17So a good friend of mine, Miguel, asked if he could feature this little 'old blog of mine on his fantastic travel website called Bohemian Journeys. I was so honored I hardly knew what to write back, I'm still surprised anyone is reading this except my Mom. (Thanks Mom!)So of course I said yes, if he's up for it so am I and he just sent the link today of the page that I'm on. I hope you all get a chance to check out the whole site, but especially my page on it. Very cool! Maybe I can get a job with National Geographic Traveler next! Ohh, or my dream job of hosting a travel show telling tourists where all the cool exotic places to go are. *Sigh* a girl can dream. So please ... read more

Geo: -8.72412, 115.17Tomorrow I am taking an evening flight up to Singapore. I've been reading up on the city/country/state (who knew it was all three?) today, and I expect that I'll stay there about 5 days. After that I'll head up to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on the train. I'm going to try to travel as much overland as I can, so hopefully tomorrows flight will be the last one in a long while, we'll see how far I get!... read more

Geo: -8.72412, 115.17Yes I'm still here in Kuta. Still hanging out by the pool, on the beach, daily spa visits and eating at great restaurants with obnoxious sunset views over the beach. I've bought three watches and a pair of sunglasses on the beach (nice knock-offs) and I now own NINE sarongs. Which I wear daily. I need to leave Kuta, it's a tourists haven and I've been drinking the Kool-Aid.It's been fantastic to hang with Sha again, I can't believe it's been four years since we were living in London, but we didn't skip a beat! We've got a routine of meeting at the same lounge chairs by the pool every morning, and swimming to the pool bar to have the daily discussion of where we'll go for lunch (our toughest decision of the day).Sha ... read more

Once we got back to the hotel we chilled for a bit. After a few minutes we got a knock at the door from John. He was recounting a story about getting a message. Pretty much a lady had offered him a price on the street and he decided the price was way too good to turn down, so he followed her. After a few minutes where he was stripped off to his boxer shorts he was asked if he would like to take his shorts off, which he did. She then whispered into his ear if he'd like extra which obviously made him tense :-p. After a bit he backpeddled out of there but for the next hour we watched from our balcony to see if anyone else would fall for the trap he fell ... read more

“Hello, is anybody out there? It feels awful lonely without contact from your mates.” My first line out of my new book, what do you think? I can already hear the abuse coming my way, love it, give it your best shot. So onwards and skywards, we have moved again and now the forwarding address is tropical paradise island, surf street and surf road. The green, clean walls were calling. We were transported to Bali on a Qantas flight and to Emma’s delight they served the red wine early on and she finished her claret amnesty with a rosé cheeks and a glare on content. Stuart sat next to the pissed German who wanted to chat about the volume of alcohol that he had already drunk during his travel from Hamburg, headphones were adorned and the ... read more
