We got mugged off yesterday by a guy that said if we went and listened to a guy chat about holiday for 1 hour we would earn him $50 to feed his family, when we got there it we were so hung over I did not want to be their and the guy chatted shit about time share. It took us around 2 hours to get away. So today we are enjoying our FREE water park tickets so into the taxi we jumped, and this must be the smallest water park I have ever seen, there were only about 7 slides open but we made the most of the day. We bumped into a couple of guys that are staying at our hotel and they were soaping there backs up then going down the fast steep ... read more

We hired a car from the hotel today for $50 and the diver is ours for the day to show us the beauty of Bali. We headed out of town and our first stop was the hand carving silver factory, the girls there really have a hard day as they hand glue every little ball onto the earings until they are complete, it is a very slow and tedidous job it take about 6 hours to make 1 pair. I did not like anything here but Jay bought a silver ring very nice. From here we went onto the hand wood carving factory to be greeted by a string of men hand carving at the front door. These guys are very skilled, we went in for a look around and just inside the door we came ... read more

Well today we headed to the airport for our 1st holiday together, we arrived at the airport to be told we had a 4 hour delay thank god Jay's mum only lives around the corner she came and saved us for a while. We landed in Kuta at around 1:30pm and headed straight out onto the strip to see what was happening, we stopped at a 24 hour bar called piggies and drank until 4am then back to the hotel room to put on my bikini and then went for a dip in the pool bar until the sun came up. We took a walk around town could not belive how busy the streets are. You can not go 5 steps without being pestered to buy something, I made the mistake of telling the people out ... read more

You wake up one morning and the calendar says it is time to move. Am I ready to leave this place. Sure I've been here for almost 3 weeks, but was that enough. I just started to really feel like I know this neighborhood, city, region, country.... and now you want me to go? It happens like that. There is excitement attached to a touch of sadness. You are going to a new place, but you are leaving what is now familiar. If you stayed you would without a doubt dive deeper, drop to further depths of culture and knowledge. You may even meet that special somebody today that changes your life. At the same time all that could be waiting for you when you get to your next location. This is how it happened for ... read more

Ja niin sita viedaan viimeista paivaa Balilla. Erittain haikein mielin tulemme huomenna jattamaan Balin taaksemme.

Taas on vierahtanyt aikaa viime kuulumisista.

"Welcome to Bali sir. Please enjoy your stay." As the customs officer waved me on with this friendly greeting and a smile (as all of the other "officials" had) I was headed off into the night in a new country. The heavy tropical air (even much more than Singapore interestingly enough) hit me like a freight train, and I saw a very developed "tourist destination" ahead of me. I had no agenda and an open mind. Lodging was foremost on my mind, and I had no idea where to begin. "Fortunately" (or not) there were more than enough people to "assist me" in finding accommodation in Kuta. My desires to hit the streets and walk into Kuta on foot were dashed by an aggressive "taxi mafia" whom nearly blocked the street with their taxis and could ... read more

Puolilta paivin pauk... read more

One of the quirks of the Australian immigration service is that if you want to stay longer than your initial visa, they want you to spend some of your money in a different country for a while rather than just letting you pay a fee to them. Seems a bit stupid to us but that’s how we ended up in Bali for a week. We’ve always had an image of Bali as a sort of Benidorm for Aussies, cheap beer and t-shirts, and its never really been on our list of must-see destinations. It is however the easiest place to get to from Australia, especially from Darwin, only a two and a half hour flight away. We flew with Garuda Indonesia, an airline with such a dodgy safety record that its actually banned from flying over ... read more

It has been a fun filled few days since i last sent a blog. Recently I had the big 27th birthday which was a lot of fun and also a little scary, I'm in my late 20's, that must mean that i have to turn into an adult sometime soon I guess. The day after my b day was a little rough, I had to go and buy a new camera since i sat on mine at like 5am after a very emotion filled version of Oasis's "Don't look back in Anger" and a few too many shots of some sort of concoction that made me feel a little queasy. The next day I took the bus to Port Dickson (again) and got down to what turned out to be a really fun music festival with ... read more
