Tom and I are in Bali now and it's truly unbelievable. The beaches are really beautiful and we've been enjoying relaxing, learning and getting better at surfing, working on our tans etc. I decided a couple of days ago that I wanted to visit Ubud, which is a town about an hour from Kuta beach where we're staying, and also where the author of Eat Pray Love goes to do some spiritual healing. I decided to check it out for myself while Tom conquered some waves on his rented surfboard for the day. When I woke up in the morning, there was no way of knowing what was in store for myself later that day.. I had plans to go to the two people the author visits in the book in Ubud, Wayan the traditional Balinese ... read more

This time i was so surprise. I work with Look Asia Holidays not even 1 month, and my big boss arrange for the staff meet up in June 2008 a few days before my birthdays. He claims that it just a simple meet up, talk rubbish to each other, but it's the way for us to put chemistry to each other. A lot of activities to attend, a lot of fun and joy. I love the environment, cool and calm, fresh air to breath, surround by nice people that full of vibrant and smiling faces. It will be my remain in my mind. I'll keep on praying that will be back there soon. According to my colleagues, they only spend about RM1,500 to travel 2 weeks in Bali, of course it's not include with the flight ... read more

Hi everyone from Bali, Indonesia! Ok ok ok, been very slack with writing - but that's usually a good thing, means I'm too busy doing interesting things! Perhentian Kecil Took a fairly epic bus journey up here from KL still feeling like crap and followed it up with a 40 minute boat trip out to these relatively remote islands. Met Ciaran first eve there out on the beach and later met another guy Nigel. Nigel works in SE Asia on oil rigs month on, month off and gets a pretty damn sweet living out of it. He'd just brought a Catamaran and had arranged to have his own place built on the island whilst he stays there between jobs - not too shabby! Ended up sailed the boat with him and Ciaran a couple of times, ... read more

Well Hello again! Its been a while, but im sure by now you have all realized not to expect weekly updates.. Im sure you noticed in the location of this entry that i have now left Australia. Traveling to Indonesia was a surprisingly short journey. I arrived in Denpasar (Bali) late at night and made my way through customs. The Indonesian customs has been given a bad rep among travelers to be a long waiting pain to get though. but i was off the plane, obtained a visa, collected my luggage, went through customs and was standing out side at the taxi stand in 15 mins. so for that reason i cant agree with anything i have heard negative about it. Bali is still struggling to get back on its feet, after the horrible bombings that ... read more

Our flight was on time at Johor Bahru but delayed 3 hours at KL, so we arrived at Bali late evening. We booked our hotel, Simpang Inn at the airport but the next day we moved to Sorga Cottages at the Kuta Beach, very green and convenient priced hotel (25 USD per night including breakfast) . The first dayin Bali we spent our time at the Kuta Beach , visited Uluwatu temple at sunset and have a very nice and romantic dinner at Jimbaran Beach. The second day , we rent a car and visited Sanur, Batubulan, Celuk, Mas, Batur Volcano and have lunch at Kintamani. On the way we saw Stone carving, wood carving and silver art center. The third day, we visited Ubud whole day long , art galleries; painting and wood crafts, made ... read more

Much has been said about the prevalence of poorly translated Asian tattoos on Western males' bodies, and I know we've all shared a laugh or two over some classic 'Chinglish' translations in restaurants and on signs in this part of the world, but I have finally reached the pinnacle of cross-cultural misinterpretation. What I witnessed HAD to be an honest and unintentional mistake, but even so it was so amazingly bad it just had to be photographed and documented. I'll set the scene... We had been on shoddy trains for 5 hours escaping the dreary town of Solo and heading to the metropolis of Surabaya. Our plan was to change trains there and head to the city of Probolinggo which serves as the main starting point for trips up to a tiny town on the edge ... read more

Wow, I'm still reeling from the fact that its Wednesday. You do the math and help me figure this out. If I started in Mpls at 9 am on Mon March 30th , took a flight to Chicago that then left at 12:10 to Seoul Korea that lasts 13 hours and is a 12 hour time difference away, then fly another 7 hours to Bali and add another time zone what day and time will it be when I arrive? I don't think they teach that in algebra class! While I was waiting in Chicago to catch the flight to Seoul I decided I should fire up that little invention called an ipod to see if when I downloaded music the day before that it actually worked! When I turned it on and started listening to ... read more

Rakastan merta!
