Een vlugge rekensom leerde me dat ... read more

Dear Travelers... Once again I am going to upload pics of Beauty of my Garden in Bhuj. These are the Flowers that keeps me Happy while there is hardly any reason I have to be happy.. Nevermind, Watering these plants every morning makes my day otherwise how could one survive while the Temperature is 44 C and Summer is becoming cruel.. However I am keen and optimistic to welcome monsoon which is still 2 months away.. But I'm preity sure that these lovely flowers and their fragrance will help me not to think of decreasing numbers of Forest, carbon emitions and dirty Governments who only talks to "save our planet" and promoting all those "Industries" keen to make money and distroying our lovely planet at higest For you just keep admiring beauty of Nature...

I spent last week end in the dry forest of Sasan Gir National Park, watching the desiccated leaves scurry across the parched earth in the hot, dry breezes. The sun beats down mercilessly there, as this corner of India anxiously awaits the coming monsoon - still months away. Even so, the regal Asiatic Lion holds sway over their kingdom, camouflaged perfectly for this landscape. I took three safaris and was lucky. Eleven lions sighted, included one glorious morning when I was blessed to see three lionesses and their five cubs on the prowl in their territory.... read more

Before came to Ahmedabad I stopped at Palitana(@110m) for a night, climbed up the 600m hill in town where a clustered of Jain temple were on top, said to had 863 temples up there, and some could dated back to the 11th century. Same like the Girnar Hill in Junaga, numbering along the stairway, a total 3200 steps lead you to the top, it was more alike a fort with wall surrounded the temple complex, I got up there by 5:30pm and was told the gate will be close at 6. Doesn't matter as I just wanted to stretched my legs after a lazy week in Diu, and aiming for the sunset, but as the climbing was from the eastern slope, so the hilltop fort was the only place could see the sunset, now I couldn't ... read more

Later on we would witness many other cremations, in Varanasi and Kathmandu, but the first cremation that we saw was in Dwarka, a seaside town in the state of Gujarat. Although only a small town, Dwarka is an important Hindu pilgrimage site, and many pilgrims go there to visit the temples and bathe in the river. At the same time, Dwarka is a minor seaside resort, with an unusual lighthouse, camel rides on the beach, and tea stalls and souvenir stands on the small headland overlooking the beach. And it was on this same headland that we came across the cremation site, a patch of ground no bigger than a tennis court, sandwiched between the clifftop and some rather nondescript buildings of uncertain function. The first clue that we had that this was a cremation site ... read more

22/2/10 Once left Junagarh the land flattened up again, but the surrounding got more lush with trees lined both sides of the road, mango and coconut ran a long way along this southwards route till the coast. After crossing the stinky channel where harboured hundreds of fishing boat, the smell trailed inside our bus for a good minute, it was so disgusted that I gave up any intention to visit Veraval. Somnath(Patan) was only 6km further, with an important and ancient sun temple for the Hindu, the Temple of Somnath had been destroyed many times in history by the Muslim and rebuilt by Hindus, the most legendary one was by Mahmud of Ghazni in 1024 while Somnath was in her most prosperous era. And the last demolition was in 1706 then left untouched. the present building ... read more

Our two night stop in Ahmadabad was more out of necessity then curiosity. We wanted to break-up the trip between Mumbai and Udaipur (which would have been 20 hours on the train) so we thought, why not stop for a couple days in the city where Gandhi called home for 15+ years of his life, and where his ashram still stands today. Gandhi is EVERYWHERE in India…he’s on every single note of currency, his statements and sayings are posted all over the place (toilets, train stations, businesses, walkways and taxis) and his happy, humble face pops up in random places all the time. So why not visit “the house that Gandhi built”? Even with the Gandhi Ashram, Ahmadabad is not a touristy town and we saw maybe another dozen foreigners during our stay. But what we ... read more
