Antarctic is done for the time being. Someday I may try to go back to that type of life and travels. But now a new adventure awaits me. It took two years and a forest of paperwork, but now I have a job working as support staff at the American Consulate in Guangzhou, China. 245 KPH or 153 MPH, the ride was very smooth. At each end of the rail car their is a display showing the speed, and the next station of arrival in both Chinese and English.

This is a beautiful door plaque. There was one plaque at each home entrance door in the community of older Chinese Homes.

Liede Bridge lit up at night during the Chinese New Year celebrations. Actually the bridge is lit up most nights through out the year as well.

The west side of the Liede Bridge is lit up to the side of the roadway. The Canton tower is in the background also lit up. The colors on the Canton tower changes about every 10 seconds.

Zhenhai tower, better known to the locals as the Five-Story Tower in Yuexiu Park. To get to Yuexiu Park, take Subway Line 2 to Yuexiu Park Station and go out exit B1.

I hope that you are doing very well in Guangzhou and you have fully acclimated. Enjoy yourself there. Extremely hot in Lewis County this summer and very humid. We have had a "drought" and tornado this summer. The corn still grows. Take care. Derek
