My take off from Heathrow was delayed an hour so I got myself a Panini and Raspberry-Coconut cake from Starbucks, totally yum. Couldn’t seem to log on to the Wi-Fi at the airport which was frustrating - all the connections were secured so I would have needed a network key. Wagamammas told me their Wi-Fi was only for staff use and the one named Free Public Wi-Fi was disabled (so if anyone knows how you’re meant to do it please get in touch). My aeroplane had 2 floors! I’d never been on one so big and should have snuck up to the top floor to check it out but I think it was first class only. Couldn’t sleep so watched some brilliant films: Get Him to the Greek with Russell Brand and Jonah Hill, both of ... read more

Friday (13/8/10) ‘Breakfast 5.30, 6 we hit the road’ Jack (this was starting to become routine!) After a restless night we headed for the border back into South Africa, despite the long queues everything was going seamlessly, too seamless in and out in ten minutes.... until our truck paper work got held up, a couple hours later we finally crossed the border stopping for a groceries and breaky number two. We cruised through the gates of Kruger National park midmorning for our first game drive of the day. We stumbled across a group of giraffes at the water hole having a drink back legs spread wide apart, front legs bent to allow their long necks to get to the water, a hell of a lot of work just for a drink. But otherwise it was a ... read more

And so it ends. All we have left is a torturous 16 and a half hour flight from Johannesburg to JFK and then our vacation will have come to a conclusion. Since my last post Jason and I have gone on a few more safari excursions, both by land and by boat. On our last game drive yesterday morning we were fortunate enough to come across another carload of people whose guide had spotted a leopard. We had spoken with our driver at the start of the morning that we really wanted to see more lions and hopefully a leopard. We know that they can't guarantee that we will see anything but we were still hopeful we might get lucky and sure enough we did. When we came across the other driver who saw the leopard, ... read more
