Jeffs gone. Its like a part of the comedy at the institute has vanished. Jeff was a priest and very comical and even talking to him for about 2 years if you hadnt known he was a priest, you would have no idea of his spiritual dedication. Apparently since yesterday was some sort of holiday there was large crowds gathered around at the Prado. I didnt know and Hanging out with Jeff anyway yesterday was more rewarding. At the school yesterday we all planned to meet at the institution gate at 645pm to go celebrate the leaving of the 5weekers. Brenedatte leaves, Sean and Gina leave friday and Jeff left today. Hard saying goodbyes. WEll yesterday after class and watching Life which is like national geographic but brittish and a little better produced I made my ... read more

Cant believe I wore only wore shorts knowing that I was going to the jungle. Ended up with a vast amount of mosquito bites all on my legs and havent been taking my malaria medication due to some lucid dreaming and advice from experts telling me its not required in Cochabamba. Well Chapare wasnt in cochabamba but more of on the outskirts of Villa TUNARI and was the farthest in the jungle I have yet to journey through. I even recall my host mom telling me its really hot you shouldnt bring your jeans. Oh by the way Mrs. GREEN, kevin hasnt been messing around here and if you were reading my previous blog there is a statement about Kevin getting ariselle pregnant which was all his idea and he wanted me to make a Joke. ... read more

When I was preparing for my trip to Bolivia and imagining the food, I was thinking it would be a lot like Mexican cuisine: spicy, delicious, piquant, etc. That, however, was not the case. Not entirely at least. All in all, I would rate the food here as OK. Here's are a few stereotypes that I will throw out there: 1. Bolivians love to cook with oil. Frying is a prime way of cooking because oil is cheap, it makes things taste better, it has a high energy density, and many Bolivians don't have easy access to an oven. Almost every dish that is made by a Bolivian has some degree of frying to it. The rice is fried in oil before it is steamed/boiled, to "toast" it a little bit. Even soups have to be ... read more

Currently preparing a progressive house set possibly to introduce to Alex who has a similar music taste to me and after talking to her today she said she was going to call dj Cycle whos like the biggest dj in the area maybe he'll let me spin at the club or something I need to definately do and bring home the story. NOt going to lie there have been many close calls that probably could have ended my fragile life which is probably why Im in the current mood Im in. So why not bike the most dangerous road in the world right? Some of us are already planning on it. WEll apparently this comming weekend starting friday John and I along with many at the school are going to this national park area called Chapare. ... read more

Rolling out of bed at around 730am I noticed a girls name inscribed on my arm. Oh SHIT! did I get a tatoo? I thought. I also took mental observation of the horrible taste of vomit in my mouth knowing for fact now that I didnt brush my teeth yesterday night, something I rarely forget. On my arm it said "ALE RISS" in permanent marker. Must have had a good night I take it thank you Jose LUIS the japanese man.(danielleas BFs cousin). Could barely open my eyes this morning and this was by far the worste hangover Ive ever had. I made my way downstairs and Mirza had prepared me an omlet in between some pieces of pan. Mirza asked me if I was going to SIPE SIPE which are some Inca ruins near cochabamba ... read more

The Guest House (or Casa de Huespedes) is where I spend most of my time, from the cold Bolivian nights to the lazy Bolivian afternoons. It is a spacious 5000 sq. feet, 8 bedrooms (i think), 6 bathrooms, and has amenities such as electricity (common in Bolivia), running water (also common), and wireless internet. There is no heat or air conditioning, however; those things are not necessary as the temperature is fairly constant: nights are about 40F, days around 80F. I am here during the winter, so it is a smidgen on the colder side, but it is completely livable with a hoodie. Our average day here: We wake up around 8:00 am, after a long struggle to get out of the covers because the house is freezing, and stalk like zombies into the kitchen to ... read more

Coastal people never really know what the ocean sybolizes to landlocked inland people-what a great distant dream it is, present but unseen in the deepest levels of subconsciousness, and when they arrive at the ocean and the conscious images are compared with the subconscious dream there is a sense of defeat at having come so far to be so stopped by a mystery that can never be fathomed. -Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance I agree with how Bernadette and Caroline call this bloging I do a Stream of Consciousness maybe thats what Ill call the book if there ever is one. There are many things that happen here that cannot be expressed through writing or words and when people ask me what happened here like Ive stated before I may not even bother to ... read more

Wow...what happened to my week? Just got back from the park up the street and was reading Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance. Left for the park at about 5pm and since Ive been hung over all day sleeping and reading various books I decided to get some sun before she went down. As I approached the park there is a fairly large firing envoloping a the nearest valley of tunari smoke covering a small part of cochabamba as little seem to care. There greeting my entrace to the park is a little girl in red with her father learning how to ride a bike. Looking at the father then looking at the little girl I noticed for a split second the look of frustration on her face as tear marks were on her cheek. ... read more

The trip to Cochabamba, Bolivia was a long and arduous one, full of no-fun. I left my apartment in columbus at about 4:30 on a Tuesday morning for my 7:40 am flight to Miami. As soon as I got past security, I realized that I forgot my passport type photo that I need for my Bolivian visa. Darn. Since I arrived so early at the airport, I scoured the internet for a place in Miami where I could get such a photo taken (I had a 5 hour layover there, so I would have ample time to leave the airport and go get such a photo taken). I found a Fedex that offered the services I required only ten miles away. I could catch a cab there, get the photo, and come back no sweat. Wait ... read more
