About a year ago, I made the sporadic decision that I needed to travel. Taking a luxury trip to somewhere wasn’t exactly easy, seeing that I am a poor college student. So what did I do? Well I took a few hours looking at all the abroad programs that were offered. And I fell madly in love with the idea of a semester at sea. The scholar ship, had a voyage taking place September 2007, it offered the chance to go half way around the world in a period of four months. It offered courses in communication, which is my field. The only problem was that I needed to make a decision right then and there, because the deadline for that voyage was coming up. I went to see jenny. Jenny is my sister in law, ... read more

Edens 12th Birthday Yippee Theme park # 5 and once again a very hot day. Arrive for the early park start and having learnt how to use the fast ride tickets book the most popular rides early (to avoid lining up with the hoards). Favourites were the high school musical show (Jewel), Stunt show, 3D Muppet show and an interactive robot racing game. The heat and long cues has stifled our enthusiasm however we have learnt to focus on those rides that hold the most interest and then move on to air conditioned comfort. Enjoyed the over sized turkey leg for lunch (David) and on leaving mid afternoon returned to our resort and hung around the pool ... read more

Transferred to Blizzard Beach a replica of our home grown Wet and Wild. This park is heaps different because it is set like a snowfield. There are heaps of fast rides but not as many as home. It was great to go swimming in the heat finally, Very packed however the presence of water helped cool us down whilst waiting.... read more

Lynn & Co (tm) decided they were off to the Magic Kingdom for the day, so I waved them off and embarqued on a day of shopping. Off to Walmart to pick up a new mobile, 18 bucks bought a little Motorola with 10 bucks calling credit. Managed to spend another 100 bucks on nothing in particular. An hour in traffic saw me outside the Florida Mall, wallet in hand ready to take advantage of the best dollar rate in 26 years. Planning to buy a Macbook, I headed to the Apple store and passed a good hour or so playing with the Iphone and the Mac books. After finally convinvcing myself another 1500 bucks of debt was no big deal, I presented myself at the register and asked for the black Macbook of my ... read more

After a cruel 4am alarm, the mini-bus arrived on time at 4.45 and we were away at 5am. And then again at 5.15am, you see halfway round the Kingsway and Lynn realised she forgot some very important medication, the kind of medication that is vital in stopping the unplanned expansion of the cruel hairy diseaese that is Urquhart genetics. Lynn & Co (tm) checked in at the airport at 6.30am, leaving me to wait for 3 and a half hours for my flight check in to open, so I could ditch my suitcase. Once checked in I paid a flying visit to Lynn & Co (tm) in their cattle class departur lounge, before heading to my pre-booked Skylounge. For £15 I had at least 3 hours away from the masses, and as much free booze as ... read more

Well, what can I say about the USA. Everything is bigger, louder, crazier, brighter, weirder and fatter! I spent my first week off the ship in Orlando with Lisy and Wee Jimmy (Cruise Director from Carnival) and had an absolute blast! Orlando has so much to offer and is so exciting. It's like the Surfers Paradise of Australia. We visted Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure and SeaWorld, there was plenty of shopping, great meals out and way too many cocktails and tequilla shots. For those of you who know either Lisy or Wee Jimmy, you know exactly how much fun they are and can probably imagine the fun filled week we had. By the time I flew to West Virginia 6 days later, I was exhausted and so sick, not a great way to start ... read more

Happy 4th of July everyone!! Day 41, 4 July 2007 - Disneyland Magic Kingdom and MGM Studios Let me start by saying that I gave myself shin splints with all the walking we did today!! I wore my sandals which in hindsight was probably not the best idea, but you get that! Toni and I managed to spend from 8.30am until just shy of 1am in both Magic Kingdom and MGM Studios today. Due to the fact that we're staying at a Disney resort, we're entitled to stay up to an extra 3 hours at a particular park each day and arrive one hour early, so we managed to pack a heap in today! We arrived at Magic Kingdom at 8.30 and straight away starting ticking things off on the 'list of things to do'. ... read more
