If this is Saturday we must be in Denver-the mile high city. It was nice to reach civilization, Sally, our GPS, brought us the most direct route right through a lovely industrial section that we thought looked just like Lynn! The downtown was much nicer. A pedestrian mall runs the entire length of downtown with free bus service. Wonderful shops and mostly chain restaurants are located here. There's a very lively night life with bands and lots of people walking around. Our hotel, the Curtis is a hoot. It just opened his year and has a 70's theme. Our floor was the "Perfect Pairs." Pictures of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Laverne and Shirley etc. Sylvan was just happy we weren't on the "Chick Flick" floor. We spent part of the day exploring the ... read more

Welcome Family and Friends! We decided to start this journal with hopes that someday we'll completely fill it with travels and adventures. For now we'd like to share one of our recent adventures as a married couple. This weekend we hiked our first "14-ner" in Colorado, Mount Bierstadt. It's one of Colorado's 54 summits that reach over 14,000 feet. We started out enthusiastically at 6am, and according to Backpacker magazine "people in fit shape" should reach the summit in 2 hours: we got there in 4 hours...and had to carry Jello the last 2 miles down the mountain in Tim's backpack... ... read more

I'm sick of sitting on the bus! I hate it because my long legs spend all their time curled up into little pretzels, I desperately want to brush my teeth but can't, and all this time to think is making me depressed. Isn't it seriously sad when a person can't have too much time alone to think without feeling despondent? What's worse is that I'm worrying about the same exact things I worried about half a year ago, which was the last time I allowed myself this much time to ruminate. I just talked to a friend on the phone who could relate to my experience and I'm wondering: How many people feel this way? Are we all just trying to stay busy to still our anxious little minds? I've started to pray for peace because, ... read more

Rupert & I hit the road today. Becca drives us to the RV center outside of Denver, and when we get there are informed that we did not call ahead to tell them when we would pick up the RV so have to wait a while until they can get it ready. Which ends up being fine for us, because we needed to head to the store anyway to get some groceries & supplies. Becca as usual is a great sport about it, and comes with us before she has to run back to work. I was sad to say goodbye to her, we had such a good time together in Boulder & exploring Colorado. After a rather brief introduction to RVing, we jump in and head west on I70. Rupert is driving (that was the ... read more

The Final Days -- Colorado Springs The trip from Moab to Colorado Springs was to say the least very, very, very long. We started with pancakes at the camp ground and set off to take a scenic drive along the Colorado River. When we turned onto the road there was a sign warning of a bridge being out down the road and it was open for local traffic only. So needless to say we turned around and headed off down another road, only to be stopped for about 30 minutes in road construction. We wanted to make two stops along the way and we thought that being allowed to go 75 mph on the major roads would help make up time lost. As we went down the road toward our first stop, The Black Canyon ... read more

Well finally at Denver after a 20hr bus ride. My body is aching!!! Had a bit of a nightmare bus companion for the whole way! This guy was in the queue beside me at Chicago and i did my best to avoid him on the bus but he ended up sitting in front of me. He was a right charmer, thought he was a bit of a ladies man. One memorable chat up line to any girl that would listen - "come on over to my cadillac, there's room for 2". Honestly he was eyeing up anything that moved and was going up and down the bus talking and singing to everyone. A few people told him to shut up but he wasnt bothered. He'd been on the bus for 3 days right enough and ... read more

Becca & I woke up early to head into Denver for a meeting she had. I sat in a cafe & emailed/blogged the morning away, and then met her at noon. Her meeting was in the KMGH Channel 7 studios, and Carrie treated me to a tour of the studios. It was very exciting for me- the first TV studios I've been in. Carrie was great- told me all about how the station & the news operates, and didn't mind me asking lots of questions & taking loads of photos. I even got a few cheeky shots in front of the TV cameras- if I'd known ahead of time I would have done my makeup! We went to lunch at Benny's mexican restaurant for some yummy food before heading back to Boulder to drop of Becca ... read more

We departed our house at 6:40 eastern time (4:40 Colorado Time). After a quick check in we all ate breakfast and headed for our terminal. During the 30 minutes that we were waiting for our plane to arrive we saw several other planes enter and leave BWI. Once our plane arrived we watched the service people (that's what my mom called them) get our plane ready for our journey west. On the plane we watch the movie "The Last Mimsie". Our flight to Denver, Colorado was thirty minutes quicker than expected. The Denver Airport was very big, in saying than I mean that it was a few huge buildings connected by a underground tram. After about an hour at the airport we took a shuttle to our friends house (Dave Raymond's). After we settled in, ... read more
