So, I'm getting ready to get back in the saddle! I'm hoping to be off to Cape Town tomorrow, via the circuitous route of LA to Sydney to Joburg to Cape Town. Assuming that I can get on all these flights. Ah, the joy of traveling standby! Anyway, between my last update and this one, I've completed my second circumnavigation! From Cape Town I flew to Joburg and on to Perth, Australia, where I visited some family friends for about a week over Easter weekend. The biggest surprise of Perth was warm beaches! I'd gotten so used to the freezing Atlantic in Cape Town that I almost couldn't handle the wonderfully comfortable Indian. Heading east to Albuquerque NM, we’ll hang a left toward Denver. On the road for another very long day of driving. We were very late leaving Williams and made a stop in Flagstaff so our travel time began about three hours behind schedule. Crossing another time zone back into mountain time, we took a vote and decided to stop short of our goal. We spent the night in the parking lot at, where else, WalMart in Trinidad CO, just over the border. Just one more thing, my husband has a history of consistently bringing rain with him on trips. So Many Options, So Little Time After a quiet evening, I wake up to a slight drizzle. I look outside and see several people running by with numbers on the front of their shirts. I realize I could be running in a 5K. I am motivated to get to a gym. I look at my invites for the day and realize that the Baby Shower is 2 hours earlier than I thought. I attempt to drive around all of the activities and events in downtown to get a gym, I give up and head back to the Monaco to get ready for my days events. Phase 3--Who Came Up With This Roadtrip Idea? I wake up early in Grand Junction and the weather is still as foul as my mood, since the Lakers lost the first game of the series. The grey clouds allow me sleep in until 8ish. I had to get downstairs for my free breakfast at the lovely Hampton Inn. I t was a brand new hotel with incredibly comfortable beds. The free breakfast was a large buffet. I would consider staying in one of these again. Since I am making reservations while I am on my way there, doing research of places to stay on my trusty phone, it worked out very well.
