Aloha. Now don't be alarmed. We're not in Hawaii. I am lying in bed decaying with my mom and sister. Dictating this to my mom as she types is a lot harder than I thought it would be. I don't know what to say to you, my audience, my muses. I can just imagine you all, staring dumbfounded at your computers. The trip has been magical in more ways than you could ever know. I would have to say that Portland was my favorite destination, due to its youthful ambiance and good burritos. Were you aware that wolves no longer exist in Rocky Mountain National Park? I am looking forward to visiting the thriving metropolis of Bloomington and then John and Aynara's wedding and seeing my amigos. Then, I'm excited to go back to school. Hopefully ... read more

Here I am again! No, I am not in foreign country. But I am on a whole new "journey" right here in the U.S. of A. I am in Denver, Colorado, preparing to start my first year as a Teach For America teacher. I've kept the same blog, but I have changed my "nick name" to "Maggie Moose" which changed the web link to: And I changed the name of the blog to "Miss, what kind of Spanish do you speak?" (I'll explain that later). All this was in an attempt to make the blog a little bit more anonymous so that I don't get my future students coming in on Monday and reading the blog to the class, although I'm sure I'll only have GOOD things to say about all of them. I'll be referring ... read more

These past few days have been quite adventure packed! We stayed in Yellowstone National Park for two nights. We would’ve stayed longer, but there were so many people, my mom, sister, and I felt like we were at Disney World. We felt like that especially at the Old Faithful. It was so cool when the geyser spurt out steamy water over 100 feet high. My dad loved the geysers and animals. We all loved the nature walk with a ranger and twelve others. At night, we would fall asleep to motorcycles speeding through the campground. Comments from Paulo: I loved almost everything about Yellowstone: the large animals, the views, the vegetation, the geothermal features (geysers, mud holes, and fumaroles), the mountains, the lake, etc. etc. As Ellie mentioned above, the place was Harley Davidson heaven, but ... read more

Day 8, Saturday August 1st. We stayed overnight in that crappy motel outside of Colorado Springs. There is one more fact, that I forgot to write yesterday: Just after we passed Las Vegas, NM we checked odometer on my VW... we had driven 2000 miles so far! Back to Colorado. Outside Colorado Springs we went to see the Garden of Gods, a public park with several rock formations, like Balanced Rock and Kissing Camels. The park is very popular for hiking and rock climbing. Next stop was Manitou Springs, a small town with natural springs and a very nice downtown are. We sat in the sun and enjoyed some late morning lazy time. From Manitou Springs we headed north, but stopped a couple of miles outside of Colorado Springs at the Air Force Academy. They have ... read more

We arrived in Denver after leaving Grand Canyon National park and traveling up through south Colorado. Some of the most lush farm land I have ever seen is situated in South Colorado and would be any farmers dream to live there. With mountains in the background and wondrous lush green fields with woodland, it is no surprise that this land is prime retail area. This was the second time I made my visit to Denver and it was a much better experience. This was because it was not a ghost town this time round and we had a good couple of nights out downtown. We were back in the city to drop one of us off so he could fly back to London. The big 50 foot Blue Bear peering into a massive building was a ... read more

After two years of living in the Middle East and traveling through many parts of the world, I have returned home. Well, at least for a little over a week until I take my new teaching job in Taiwan. With such conflicting schedules and so many trips over the summer, my time home with family and friends was very brief, though quite enjoyable. It didn't take long at all once home to realize how good a life can be in Denver. Over this week, I was able to have a small bar-b-que, go on a hiking trip with family, work on my master's, and spend some quality time with friends. All in all, there wasn't too many times for taking pictures, so this will of course be a short and sweet entry. As I type in ... read more
