It's Monday morning. I am back at my desk in my home office. The trip is over and the weekend is over and it's time to start dealing with everything again. I am alright with that. I am just so happy that for 5 or 6 days I was actually able to turn it all off. The whole time on the road I did not let any of the negative thoughts about this house seep into my brain. I blasted them out with very loud music and thoughts of the past and future. Not much time to write now as I'm a little overwhelmed with real-life stuff but I did want to post the pics and make one last observation about the countryside I just drove through; a country that has been expressed in different ways ... read more

Quiet Day This was the one day I didn’t have anything planned for. We slept in again, got showered and dressed and got in the car. We decided to have brunch at the Egg Shell in Cherry Creek. This is another restaurant that has been around a long time; it was wonderful and everybody thoroughly enjoyed it. Then, with nothing better to do, we drove up to Golden, we got out of the car, took some pictures and walked around. Noah through one of his fits, and we got back in the car. Since we had nothing else to do, I thought it would be a good idea to show them more of the mountains and some small towns. We drive from Golden to Nederland, which is deep in mountains just outside of the town of ... read more

The Suprise The Surprise We awoke to a wonderfully sunny, beautiful day in Denver! We slept in a little, packed up, checked out of the hotel and got in the car. Went back to the UPS store and shipped the rest of the stuff home. We drove over to DU, showed the kids the dorms and parked the car. We walked over to the union and went to the Bookstore where we shopped for “stuff”; once again, Noah wasn’t doing so well. Anyway, we bought what we wanted and left. We walked around campus a little bit and went back to the car. We started driving and showed the boys the old ATO house. Then we drove into Cherry Creek. It was time for a brunch or lunch. We decided to go to the Cherry Cricket ... read more

Well I worked all night, cleaned out the apartment, put the last of my things in storage, crammed the car full and hit the road. I got exactly 165 miles before I realized that it was too hot and I was too tired to continue, having stayed up all night so I pulled into the last Colorado outpost of Burlington. Found a room in a tiny motel called the Hi-Lo which was proudly owned by Americans and felt a little bit like a Hitchcock movie. I was so tired and it was only noon but it had air conditioning and a bed. I slept the sleep of the righteous and woke up around 7pm thinking that I would hit the road. I took a quick tour of the town and picked up some trash bags at ... read more

Leave Fort Lauderdale Aiport for our flight to Denver International We were supposed to take off at 3:05 pm - finally depart around 3:30 due to bad weather Flight overbooked At our gate, as we were waiting to board the plane we ran into Alfredo Ameziga of the Florida Marlins - he was flying to Denver to see a Knee specialist in Vail. Amy and the boys went over to meet him, he was very courteous to them. Extremely bumpy for about the first 1-1/2 hours - then smoothed out Noah was very sleepy (due to his medicine prior to the flight), he slept on Amy’s lap for most of the flight - about 2/3 of the way through the flight Noah threw-up all over the plane, floor, seat, isle and himself. We didn’t have an ... read more

Hi again! I'm back from my mini-vacation visiting Kyle in Denver. It was so much fun! We relaxed, explored some cool sites, and ate a whole lot o' food. If anyone watches Man vs. Food , you might recognize a few of the spots in which we dined. (Kyle and I might be a little obsessed with the show). We went to 2 of the 3 restaurants that were featured on the Denver episode. The Buckhorn Exchange and The Cherry Cricket. Unfortunately we didn't quite dine Adam Richman style... there was no participation in any food contests... haha. The only place we missed was Jack-n-Grill where you can get a 7 pound breakfast burrito!! Guess that will have to wait until next time. Anyway, hope you all enjoy the pics. Thanks again Kyle for hosting "the ... read more

We started our second full day in Denver with sleeping in. No one was out of bed before 8:00 am. Levi had been up once in the night, but went back down pretty easily. We caught the hotel breakfast just before they closed up. The only scheduled item for today was to meet some friends from Fort Collins at the Denver Zoo by 11:00. Their little girl is just five days older than Paul. We had been in the same birthing class as them back in 2003. We thought 11:00 am would be easy and that we could enjoy some other parts of the City Park area before meeting at the zoo. We were wrong… we got to the Zoo just a few minutes before 11 and it looked real busy! They closed the parking garage ... read more
