Indonesia- a real gem in South East Asia that not many travellers ever consider going to.
I know it's too late but it seems many good informations have been already given. So...I share few tips for Bali. In Bali...sea is not very clean at many part of Bali specially at North. If you like to swim, snorkeling and diving you better go to Tulamben or islands around. Nusa Dua area is full of 5 stars hotel but nothing around. Kuta is nice for young people..more action, night life, surfing. Sanur Area is good for the folks looking for peace and hotels for every budget. Masage lovers will be spoiled. ( Attn. no body/body masage.) Bali beach masage ladies are very friendly, smiling poeple but keep in mind that husbands are always around. Food is great, all kind of International kitchen, Mac & Kentuck. Wine is very expensive and Bali wine Hutton is not extra. Warning...when you go to bed check before you enter and also when you put your feet on the ground. Another good advise would be...ear blockers(don't remember now what was in English.) for the swimming pools. Price negociation is a national sport as Thailand. 😊 If they say 100...you say 35 ! then go up to 45.)
Enjoy...
Reply to this Hey everyone,
I was really excited when I ran across this post. It is true, it doesn't seem like there is as much info on traveling in Indonesia as other places. I will be teaching English in Batam beginning in August. Has anyone been? I am hoping to do a ton of traveling while i am there, so would really appreciate any recommendations on great destinations in Indonesia. I would also like to learn alot more on the history and culture of the country, so any advice there would be most welcome as well.
pPamela-I checked out your photos which were gorgeous and very inspriring. After so much negative attention surrounding Indonesia it was great to hear that you had such a good experience, especially as a solo traveler! I will be going with my husband, but have to admit I still had my moments of aprehension.
Anyway, I'm still in the preparation stage, but I'd definately like to keep this thread going!
All the best,
Hannah
