Australian Adventurers

Is it just me, or does it seem that an inordinate amount of true adventurers hail from Australia?

Why is that so? Travelblog.org's own Travel Camel comes from Australia, and hardly anyone is more adventurous than he.

In response to: Msg #190062 Hi Monique,

You're right! Australians and New Zealanders are naturally adventurous. It just seems to be in our genes to want to travel and to explore the world at large. It doesn't matter where in the world you travel to or how out-of-the-way your destination may seem to be, sooner or later, you will fall over an Aussie or a Kiwi, or both! 😊 Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that we have to fly such long distances to get anywhere else in the world (other than to visit each other) that we want to make the most of our experience and to see and do all that we can once there. 😊 Jan Reply to this

SkiSet,

Thanks for your comments--I hadn't thought about how far Australians and New Zealanders need to go to get to most travel destinations. I'll try and incoporate into my own travels what most Aussies and New Zealanders seem to do when they go somewhere--soak it all in and absorb the experience. And isn't that partly the secret to happiness--enjoying where we are on the journey. Reply to this

Monique,

It certainly is ... the journey that gets you there is just as important - or sometimes more so - as the destination itself, whether it be travelling or life itself. 😊 Jan (SkiSet) Reply to this

You are right! Indeed, in addition to being adventurers they are also very friendly and hospitable. We made contact with several TBers when we visited Australia and New Zealand in 2012. Reply to this
