Addictions come in many forms. For us – it’s always been travel. Whether it be a week here and there holidaying in Oz with family or travelling the world to far-flung and exotic places.
We have been very fortunate to have visited many countries throughout the world as well as also having seen much of Australia by trains, planes and automobiles (and also motorhome) but, still lots more to see. We haven’t even scratched the surface of this vast, magnificent country of ours.
Our children (and now also grand-children) also share our passion for travel, from camping in the bush for an Aussie bush Christmas to sometimes sharing our travels around the world in the company of our travel agent daughter. It’s great having an in-house travel agent in the family. Certainly takes all the hassles out of organising our travel arrangements.
We are always open to adventure and with both of us now being on the other side of 60, have never put restrictions on ourselves and feel that if we can do something – why not? We have never let our age be a barrier to travelling.
Perhaps one of our greatest adventures and achievements was when we hiked the Inca Trail in Peru a couple of years ago, a tough and challenging 4 and a half day day trek at high altitude, which will always remain one of the most fantastic and memorable experiences of our life.
Which, only goes to prove – don’t let age be a mental barrier to travelling (or anything else for that matter) There is a great big, wonderful world out there just waiting to be explored. If you feel you can do it – just get out there and have a go!
