Hi,

My girlfriend and I are curently in Thailand, and we just came back from Koh Chang Island (Ranong) where we spent 5 incredible days. There were not many tourists on the island and we could really enjoy the beautuy of the nature, any noises, just the sea, forest and animals...
Moreover, we stayed in a bungalow which was a bit far from other touristic accomodations, so we really found a peaceful place.
We did videos of the island and the bungalow where we stayed. I invite you to watch it on our blog:

I currently live in Thailand working as an English teacher. I've been to Koh Chang, Koh Samet, Phuket, and Koh Phi Phi.

Koh Chang and Phuket are both very large islands. This is where you go for amenities (nice hotels, restaurants, shopping). They both get a lot of visitors and can seem crowded at times, especially Phuket. But they are also large enough to where I'm sure you could find secluded or quiet areas.

Koh Phi Phi is an odd ball. There are no cars or motor vehicles, and the islands themselves are easily the most beautifully picturesque islands I've ever seen. However, the community on the island seems very much like Khaosan Road recreated in paradise. There are upmarket lodging options, but so much of it seems to cater to the backpacker demographic.

Koh Samet is the quietest of the islands I've seen here. Its got a range of bungalows and other options, but not much in the way of amenities - which lends itself to a feeling of isolation (even though its just hours from Bangkok). At night people generally congregate towards the fire show then spread out to a few beachfront bars.

I've also heard really good things about Koh Lipe, Koh Tao, and Similan Islands. I've heard generally negative things about Koh Samui.

Hope this helps! Reply to this

Have a fun in Thai island. Thailand is famous for its tropical islands. From Phuket to Ko Lipe, Ko Samui to Ko Tao and from one Ko Chang to another, there's an island for every month, a beach for every week, and a new palm tree to lay under for every day. Reply to this

I'd personally suggest Krabi - been to both Phuket and Krabi - but Phuket is often more pricey and crowed (unless otherwise suggested above to find a secluded spot - which if more expensive of course) while @ Krabi u can get a secluded place for a cheaper price.

I'm planning to return to THailand soon - and i'm looking fwd to go to Krabi - but may try some other islands i've never been to - anywhere with fun snorkeling.

I"m actually gonna get a free ticket (not to boast to much...) from taking pics of drinking Thai beer - but just pose accordingly 😉 - u can give it a try urself - not hard - it's on facebook - just search for "live like you mean it" by beer chang - pretty cool stuff! Reply to this

personally i love ko tao. its the smallest of the 3 main islands in the south but its full of good energy and lots of cool diving spots to boot. Reply to this

Phuke and Ko Phi Phi are popular, but full of tourists. Ko Chang... perhaps Ko Chang is quieter.

Ko Ngai for the win! Ko Lipe, Ko Tarutao and Ko Phi Phi are also stunning. Reply to this
