Everest walk from Lukla to Base Camp Unaided Items Required for Sleeping/Resting.

We have made the decision to Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla, we will then walk unaided to Everest Base Camp. We are aware of the acclimatisation issues with the walk to EBC and really appreciate all the input and help so far. You have made it so much easier for us to get to our destination to fulfil our dreams.

Can anyone recommend the following items please as we are now in the process of purchasing the following necessary items:

Tent ?
Sleeping bag ?
Sleeping mat?
Sleeping bag liner ?

On behalf of my girlfriend and I, we would like to thank you all again on all your input and help so far. You won’t believe how confused we were with all the data online/books until we came on this forum.

Thank you so much again.

Hi guys,

I did this trek two years ago solo (well with another lad I bumped into at the airport on the way to Lukla) and it was fine but at times very challenging. Just take it slow and enjoy the views. You do not need a tent as along the way (around a day hike between) are villages where you will be able to find a place to rest your head.

What month are you going? I did this in January and we had the treck pretty much for ourself and we were at Base Camp with not a single other person but as Feb, March and April come along it will get more busier (some people say it is like a trail of people) so a place to stay may be more difficult.

A good idea for how many people are doing the treak is the picture I have here as you can see how many people register each month at a check point. (and make sure you have all the relivant documents before doing the hike).

So you may not need a mat also.. Maybe if you go in the busier months and the beds are full you are able to sleep on the floor.. we didn't have this and less things you take the better. I think I remember that we didn't shower for the whole time but after three days you dont care anymore so just keep the same clothing as well.. a few pairs of underware and socks, some good thermals and maybe a down jacket depending on what month you go. And a good pair of boots that you didn't purchase three days ago, wear them in 😊

And make sure you be aware of acclimatisation as I got it a little and was not fun.. It doesn't seen like much but i had an 800m climb to the hospital which took near 4 hours with a screaming headache but once there I was soon fixed up.

The blog I did for the hike if you like to see A fantastic adventure
