Need information on long term accomodation.

Hello everyone!

We are heading to Thailand in a few weeks for a 5 week period. We are trying to find some accomodation for this time. Our budget is roughy 30 000 THB for the time there. We have tried to look on some websites but everything seems to be a bit more expensive.

We're hoping to get some insight on places that could still be nice but yet affordable to suit our budget. It would be in the Phuket region, preferably near a nice beach (doesn't have to be really close to a beach but within walking distance).

Also, how much should we intend to spend on food per day?
Any must do activities/places to visit while there?
Any other suggestions is greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Figure out how much per night you can allow for a hotel and then ask for suggestions in that price range. Phuket is not the cheapest place to stay at in Thailand. All of Thailand has "summer like" weather. You don't have to be at a beach to get a tan.

If you plan on taking a bus to Phuket get one from a real bus station not from a Khao San Road travel agency. Most of the scams and problems that I read about bus rides usually originate from buses booked in the KSR area. Don't put any valuables like cash, passport, meds, electronics, etc. in your check in bag. Keep valuables on your person or in within sight when on buses or trains.

For your stay in Bangkok you might want to check out these two places:
Suk 11 Hostel and Soi Guest House.

One advantage of this area is that you can walk to many places such as street vendors, travel agencies for tours, restaurants and malls. Best thing about a hotel in this area is the Skytrain.

If you are a kid or really young there is always Khao San Road accommodation in Bangkok, but no Skytrain stops in that area!

For Bangkok you can eat cheap from select street vendors, food courts in malls and office buildings and from in-store restaurants in supermarkets. Foodland and Tops are two of the supermarkets that have in-store restaurants.

If you are from the US or Canada, for a 5 week visit you have to have a 60 day visa ahead of time or plan on a border run if you arrive at Suvarnabhumi and only get the free 30 day entry stamp in your passport.

Good luck.

Price range is between us $4-10

Locate around Chalong bay area in the southern part of Phuket Island, Easy to get around because it's on the main street, the local bus stop infront of the hostel.

In Phuket if you are going to be there for weeks look at get a condo! Sounds crazy but you can probbably find one really cheap. In Pattaya a cheap hotel will run you 500 baht a night with air con hot water, you can get a nice ocean view condos for as low as 7000 baht and you pay the electric and water. This time of year is a great time to get a good deal.

Phuket is one of the most expensive resort areas in Thailand Reply to this
