Where do I start? Well, I love to travel. I've been traveling since I was a kid. My trips as a kid consisted of a yearly trip to Niagara Falls Ontario with the 6 family members crammed in an Oldsmobile. To make matters worse, I had motion sickness; so every trip was a nightmare for me and a strain on my family. And you’re probably wondering why I love to travel?
It wasn't until 1996 that I discovered my love for travel. I planned a cross country trip for my family. On this trip, I found one of my travel passions along side the oceans and forests
mountains! Being from the East Coast where the highest point in our province is a mere 820 meters, I fell in love mountains from the very first sight of those Rockies. While our trip in the Canadian Rockies was very short, I didn't give up the dream that I got on that day
I had to go and see them again someday.
The summer of 1997 was a year of chances for me as I won a few of golf tournaments. In order to excel in this sport, the only place in Canada where I’d have a chance to play golf year round was in BC! At the age of 16, I went to a private school in Langley BC and played golf! My chances were limited in going to visit places around there since I was a student, but any chances I had
I definitely went! Another passion was found while I was there: hiking through parks and up mountains. As my time in British Columbia came to an end, I came to realise that even though I did do a fair amount of travel, it had to be part of my life.
Since then, I’ve gone to University and became a Registered Nurse. I’ve continued to travel although it wasn't too far... I went on several road trips, discovering my little corner of the country (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island) as well as the north eastern part of the United States. My last big trip was to Europe for a few weeks last year but I covered too much ground in such little time and did not do enough outdoorsy stuff. But lesson learned, next time will be different!
Before I even went to Europe, I always had a dream to go and live abroad for a year, but never really had the chance and the guts to go... until now. However, I needed to go somewhere where there'd be mountains! Being a nurse, doors would be open for me in Switzerland but the cost of living did play a factor in my decision. A good friend of mine suggested to go to New Zealand one night while we were talking crazy about going abroad for a year. It wasn't long before I was into my research that I fell in love with the idea of going to NZ. Those plans are slowly starting to become a reality for me and my friend. My next big dream is to go to New Zealand for a year. The research has begun and planning stage wont be far behind!
