Hi my 9 year old son and I are headed for India in 1 week, we will actually arrive on the 14th of November as we are going after nepal,so I am just wondering what sort of budget I need, also what may be the best, fastest but cheapest path to get from Aurangabad to Kerala, I have the Northern part of our trip sorted but totally lost on South. Welcome to India. Aurngabad is indeed one of the best destination for visiting Ajanta and Ellora caves. Especially Ellora has an eternal charm and is divine.

From Aurangabad take a taxi to Manmad railway station and take a train to Kerala. You might enjoy this trip. However make sure that you reserve your tickets by train from Manmad to Kerala (whatever destination such as Cochin (which is now called Kochi or Ernakulam) in AC II class which is comfortable, not costly and safe with a child.

On arriving in Ernakulam railway station (Kochi) you can take a taxi to Hotel - Bharat Tourist Home - very near to railway station and I have stayed here with family. Its a nice family hotel and centrally located. Just opposite the hotel is boat jetty and you can take boat to Mattancherry, a beautiful village where you will see one of the oldest Jew Church in addition to other interesting things. Also visit Fort Cochin and Bolgatty Islands.

Other places in Kerala you can visit from Cochin are Varkala, Thekkady, Alleppy etc. Again you can train to these places which takes around four to five hours only.

Enjoy your tour and I am sure your little son will indeed enjoy...

Hi
I also suggest train as being the most comfortable from Aurangabad to Cochin.
