Need advice
15 years ago, October 23rd 2008 No: 1 Msg: #52362
Planning to travel through China for 5/6 weeks in March 2008 with my husband and wondered if anyone could give us advise on accommodation. We have travelled through Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and Thailand in the past years and picked up cheap ($8 - 20) guesthouses along the way. They were all clean and comfortable with all the usual amenities. Is China like this and how does the prices compare? Reply to this

Hi, I travelled in China 2 years ago with my young son, we stayed in private rooms, which were clean and great value, rooms were definetely as cheap as in SE Asia, and food too, train travel was our biggest expense, but well worth it, we also met some really great people at the places we stayed.

Hi angsutt,
I just worked out the itinerary day by day for 3 tourists (two male and one female) who come from Bedfordshire of England. They will go Beijing, Luoyang, XIan, Guilin and Shanghai from 21 Feb to 8 March 2009. It is just USD1000/person only exclude meals during in china.
Yes. In China the price of some guesthouse or hostel will be from RMB 50/person to RMB 100/person. and it is also clean and comfortable.
So We can help your budget trip in China.

The Hostelling International network in China is fantastic, we stayed mostly in Hostelling International places when we were there. Most places were around $12 and had private ensuite bathrooms, air con unit, tv (with only Chinese channels!), kettle and cups with hot water. The staff speak good English and can help out with the booking of train tickets (just get them to write in Mandarin what you want so you can take it to the train station).

We were completely shocked at how high the standard of accommodation was in China! Reply to this
