Singapore to Malaysia by road - visa on arrival?
15 years ago, August 18th 2008 No: 1 Msg: #45887
Hi all,

I have a question for those who have traveled from Singapore to Malaysia by road. Do we need to get visa in advance for visit less than 7 days? Is it possible to get visa on arrival at the border check post?

I would appreciate if someone could provide me official links with the information.

Thanks.

It mainly depends on your nationality, checking with your local embassy or consulate for more information is usually the best way to get accurate and up to date information. See the linked country guide for more information. Reply to this

Hello Swar 😊

As far as I know citizens of many countries can get a visa on arrival for Malaysia. The visa is free of charge. I am not sure how long it is valid for. I think that depends on which country you are a citizen of.

My Lonely Planet book does not say you cant get the visa at land border checkpoints, so I presume you can.

Thanks guys. I checked the official website, however, it says "Visa on Arrival" page is under construction. I am an Indian citizen. I know I will need a visa, just wondering if I can get visa on arrival. Reply to this

According to my Lonely Planet book Indian citizens are one of those subjected to more regulations when entering Malaysia but the book does not say where they can get the visa.

Here is another website you can check.

Here is a more direct link to the visa information for citizens of countires beginning with I.
Looks like you can get the visa on arrival. I presume that means at any arrival point including by land. They surely would have stated if you have to go to a particular place only.

I got an email reply from the Malaysian Consulate today. Turns out, there is no Visa on arrival for Indians (and other subcontinental countries) at Johor anymore 😞. I will have to obtain a visa from the consulate in Los Angeles.

Thanks both of you.. Reply to this
