We headed down to Pachacama via Barranco. Barranco was home to the peruvian artists and writers. Aparently it is known for dancing and partying once the sun goes down but James and I won't get to see that. Visited the Iglescia La Ermita, which was badly damaged by an earthquake in 1940. Walked across the Bridge of sighs which is suppose to be a romantic place for lovers to meet (there is so many places here for lovers to meet). Then off through the industrial and slum area to Pachacama. , Pachacamac was the deity worshipped in the city of Pachacamac by the Ichma. Pacha Kamaq was believed to have created the first man and woman, but forgot to give them url=https://en.... read more

Lazy day. Walked around Microflores. Walked via the markets and then down to Larco mar and then back along the coast through Love Park and past the paragliders. James thorugh it would be good to have a go however said it wasn't covered by our insurance. Not sure that I like the OH &S here. Things that stand out- How many people they can fit in a bus!!! And how many buses their are. They pull up at an intersection and a guy jumps out and yells out (we think its a destination) and off they go. James wanted to try a bus however he then decided we really had no way of working out where we were going to.... read more

We started the day with breakfast at the hotel and the recommendation from the waiter that we should try the tamala's. With the memory of my last encounter with tamala's (when we were told that they were Uncle Henry's favourite food) I suggested that I have eggs and James could try them. Not surprisingly James didn't think much of them but once he found out what they were made from they tasted much worse .For those that don't know what they are, corn flour and pig fat cooked in a banana leaf and a little bit of flavouring. We walked down to the main street of Microflores and came across a procession. Looked like uni students with health background. We checked out the markets Mercado Indio which they say is the best place to find everything ... read more

Started the day at 4.30 am. Got to the airport put onto an earlier flight and then got to the check in to find there was fog in Sydney and we weren´t going anywhere. Luckily we were only held up for an hour. James must look like a very dodgy character as he was checked by customs at both Sydney and Auckland. I managed to view Quartet, Le Mis and Parental Guidance, sure does make the trip go quicker. We had a 3 hour stopover in Santiago. James spent most of the time sleeping on the lounge. From the airport you look out over the Mountain which are covered with snow. It was then a 4 hour flight to Lima. All went well at the airport. Our luggage which we checked through in Melbourne was there. ... read more

Šiandien pagaliau išsiruošiu paskraidyt parasparniu. Susiskambinu su Soren, kuris žadėjo man išnuomoti parasparnį. O ... read more

It was a long old bus ride down the Pan-American highway from Mancora and after 20 hours we arrive in the Peruvian capital, Lima. Like all our destinations, we’d spoke to fellow travellers in advance to get advice; how long to visit for, recommendations of where to stay and sights worth seeing. Overwhelmingly, the view of Lima was that it is simply to be passed through, a stopover to break up long bus journeys between the north and south of the country. With this advice in mind, we decided to stay just two days and booked our bus tickets out of the city as we arrived. Both Sonya and I weren't expecting much from our time in Lima but our visit did present us with the opportunity to catch up with our German friend, Norman, who ... read more

The journey here was short, only 3 hours but we had to put the watch back 2 hours so thought it may cause added sleep problems. However after dinner in our hotel, with local red wine, we supped the local alcoholic delight that is Pisco sour. The first was free from the bar but the one we paid for was huge! I think it has solved our jet lag! The sun is shining but it is still a little breezy so will go for a potter down to the beach later. We keep our fingers crossed for good weather as we cannot believe our luck. We were pleased to find a cheaper hotel in Miraflores as being the beachside barrio it is more expensive, and has more tourists, but also is described in our guide as ... read more
