Well, today is the day that Ted and I head for home. We don´t leave until about midnight & we get back tomorrow morning around 10 am. We have been having fun in Lima. On Sunday, we went to the horse track. That was a lot of fun. We got to sit with the rich people because we are Americans, I guess. It only costs round .80 cents per bet, so it was cheap fun. I came out ahead by about 4 soles & Ted lost about 10 or 15. Ted kept betting the trifecta. I just bet on placing and winning. Anyway, yesterday we went to the fancy mall and watched Agent 86 - it wasn´t very good. It was something to do, though. We then had a crazy taxi driver who took us through ... read more

Hola Amigos and greetings from Peru! We´ve been here for just over a week now and it´s been great fun so far. After a monster drive from the Highlands of Ecuador we reached the border with Peru. The countryside really changed and from having been used to seeing trees and rivers, all we could see now was desert. It was definately not the image of Peru which we had in our heads. We made it to Punta Sal on the north west coast of the country and had three relaxed nights camping on the beach. To be woken by the sunlight streaming in to the tent and the sound of the waves crashing on the beach was cool and we could definately get used to that. It was pretty relaxed on the beach with the days ... read more

We´ll starting from where we left off . . . The washing of hair went well. However, the food guessing game, not so well. Quietly confident that we had it al in control, we discovered that this was not the case! Pollo, one would imagine means chicken, in any language, and often through this trip it has been . . . not last night. We are still unsure whether it was guinea pig (as this is the local delicacy) or chicken innards/kidneys . . . our stomachs held it down whatever it was, so all is good. Lima: Day 3 After another night (insert soundscape here) we managed to have a short lie in (considering our mornings have been a lazy 10am start, since holiday mode) then got up, sorted money, bought some staples and chilled ... read more

So, i did catch my plane on june 15th, which is actually a sunday. i, unfortuantely, had been thinking that the 15th was a monday and did not realize i was mistaken until late friday afternoon. talk about a rush trying to get everything packed and ready before leaving. i bought some new sneakers but when i took them out of the box, the lady at the store had put the wrong sneakers in the bag. that was late saturday so there was no time to exchange. they´re actually pretty great sneakers so it probably worked out well. my 1st flight when from tampa to ft. lauderdale where i had a 5 and a half hour layover before my flight to lima. i kept trying to decide if i should stick it out in the airport ... read more

Eng ver bwlow.

Visitamos a praça ... read more

Arequipa and the Colca Canyon Next stop after the Inca Trail was Arequipa, Peru´s second biggest city and called the "white city" because of all its buildings which are made from white volcanic rock. There are also 3 volcanoes surrounding the city, one of which you can see the top of (covered in snow) from the city centre. I was still suffering from a freezing-nights-on-the-Inca-Trail-induced cold but luckily the weather was boiling hot so we spent lots of time wandering around the city in the sunshine! And then we treated ourselves to a trip to the cinema in the evening and saw the new Indiana Jones. The film was pretty rubbish but its set in Peru and talked about lots of the things we'd seen or were going to see which was really cool. In fact ... read more
