Thanks Francisco for the notes of ideas and things to do. I have tried many different foods, especially the Completo combinations. Had a good fish meal of tuna with sala last night. With a half bottle of Cab Sav of course. I ended up basing myself in Valparaiso ( which is the more historical and rustic of the two neighbouring towns in the bay. Drinking beers in an old saliors pub. Ending up in with a group of which one was a retired irish merchant navy engineer. Thats a bit of a cliche. I´ve been using the local buses to get around : the best thing is they are small and there is one every min. I went over to Vina de Mar yesterday and its a whole different world. Chic model and shopping to die ... read more

KARMA EXISTS ginger. pointed, hand gestured. yes i would like my fringe straihtened adn the rest curly. Yes i know i have a centre parting, but would like a side fringe. She gave me a centre parting and then straightend teh hair on either side. ´No quiero cortinas´I DON¨T WANT CURTAINS. looking at myself in teh mirror understood exactly why rose let ... read more

Part 2: Family The reason for this trip was for Carlos to finally meet my family. He survived meeting my brothers and Grandma seemed to love him (which isn't really that hard! :) Here are some photos of family. Us meeting my brother Todd's 2 kids for the first time. Both were born while we were in Chile. Seeing my other brother, Preston's kids, who have grown so fast! Wow! My lovely Aunt and her family. Such fun. Grandma Scott. Always a great support. Carlos said she was his favorite part! Ohhhh :) And of course mom. Mom, I love you! Your the best mom, friend, mentor, and advice giver ever! Enjoy! This was the best part of the trip. So as most of you know, after a long wait, God (and the US govt.) finally granted Carlos a tourist visa. And not just for our trip but for 10 years!!! We were shocked. I initially thought it was a typo. We were able to travel July 7th-Aug 1st to Oregon. It was an amazing, fun, adventurous and at times exhausting trip full of family, friends and food! The 3 F's! haha Let's not talk about how much weight we gained :) To those we didn't have the opportunity to see, I apologize. But we are hoping to move home early January so I promise you will get to meet Carlos. soon. Enjoy the pics and as always, I love hearing from you guys! cuidense mucho y que dios te bendiga. besos de Chile, Tori and ... read more

THese are all SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO out of date, wll be leaving here in 2 weeks !ª!!! so will condense most adventures to a nice brief message soon. muy feliz (HAPPY) now. keep me posted on yoru lives. love to all. xx xx So after watching some good old fashion hammer horror, with hillbillies going through a blender and satanic lorry drivers after the circus (see other blog) feeling much happier with life in general. Maybe everything is going to be OK ( I echo the desperate bellows of my driving instructor after nearly colliding with the central reservation on the dual carriageway while overtaking a bus). People all over the world really are the same. Sleep in on Saturday, and wake to my alarm falling off the bedside table. Must dash - cooking Mexican for mormon missionarie´s ... read more

In the beginning (NOTE MUCH HAS CHANGED) =) Right so after some consultation with Inglaterra it seems that have not explained any of the first few weeks. Thus step into your time machine, stand aside Michael J Fox because we are about to go right back to week 1 - 2 and work forth from there. Lets just pretend just left the country (and the past few weeks of English sun have only just begun): Arrival at the jardin was over-awing and after mucho meet, greats and bessitoes all over the face (it became clear I had rememberd/learnt no Spanish despite returning to the hole of swindon new college for 2 months) I wanted nothing more than to pass out and self absorbently question why I was doing this . However, after the overnight flight from ... read more

So, Thought would write something in the moment as it were, from my ´corazon´. Its quite a big day here, mamma uno is back from her month in england and things are very different. Mamma dos was called to the big smoke of santiago to care for her daughter and the other englsih teacher has permanently left. Realise those who i am not in otehr communication with will have no idea what i chat of, no importantes will add at another point. The promised winter rain has begun too. So clearly this marks an official two months here. AM STILL NOT FLUENT: everybody said 3 months and think this might of been a bit butchers best porkie pie. also, not needing to speak the language may be fine with adults, but with kids it helps and ... read more

We have been heading northward from our days in the Lake District, I already miss it, and we have made an overnight stop in Santiago and then in Valparaíso. A city build on the sea, and on hills. Our hostel was on the hill above the main sea-port, and the hills are quite steep (they have mainy venicular lifts to get people up and down), all though I think they are just for novelty and tourism now, they were used frequently back when they were built cerca early 1900´s. It is a very memorable city. It seems to a local pride thing to paint ones´house either very bright colors or conspire with the neibores and pic colors that would go well with each other. Seeing the city from above or below is quite enthrawling. Watching the ... read more
