Rosario We got a night bus directly from Montevideo .. and the only real event was realising halfway through the journey that we were due to arrive at 4am ... we'd counted on arriving much later, and had to call the hostel when we arrived to see if a) they were open and b) if they had space. We ended up crashing out for what was left of the night in seperate girls and boys dorm rooms, before being able to check in to our room later on that day! The main reason for going to Rosario in the first place was to skydive! So on the first day, we booked the trip and then relaxed in and around the hostel .. finishing off the day with full stomachs after going to an all (the ... read more

WEEK 20 - RETURN TO BUENOS AIRES My last long journey from Puerto Iguazu to Rosario was on a Rio Uruguay bus. There were only 9 of us for the first 10 hours - and it was quite a party. My only two Scottish encounters of the trip had a flask of gaelic coffee which set the scene. These buses run continuously - only stopping briefly for passenger pick up and set down. All meals, coffee and water are provided - but this time the meals were excellent. Hot chicken and vegetable rice, ham and cheese, fresh bread, coca cola and creme caramel! The second half of the journey was busier with two longer stops while police checked identity cards, passports and the luggage. Invoices have to be produced for all new goods and they ... read more

Woke up very tired after being kept awake allnight by a very noisy hostel. We decided wewere´t going out on Friday night, but it seemed like everyone else did! We got to sleep about 3 o´clock only to be woken at 5 by 2 German boys who sat outside our room talking very loudly for 2 hours. To say I hated these two Germans, would be a grose understatement. Had to check out of the hostel at 11 o´clock, and spent the rest of the day killingtime untilwe caughjt the caoch at 8. We had a nice time in Rosario, but probably should have spent less time there as there wasn´t too much to see or do. We´re both really looking forward to Mendoza which is responsibleforproducing over 70% of the wine in Argentina, and sounds ... read more

We fancied going to see what little sights Rosario had to offer today. There really isn´t all that much to do here, and the tourist info maps list a couple of museums and some monuments as the main attractions. The main monument by the river is pretty impressive, so we decided we´d take a look, and discovered you can go to the top! The view from the top was alright, but your exactly at the same height as the skyline of the city, so all you can see is mostly the tops of other surrounding buildings. Don´t really know what the monument is for, or what it´s called, but it´s pretty big anyway. One of the more interesting facts about Rosario is that it was the birth place of Che Guevara. The map said there ... read more

GOt up early to get to the beach before it started raining again. We caught a bus which took about 20 minutes to get to the far end of Rosario which had all the beaches by the river. When we arrived, it all looked pretty deserted which was partly to do with the river being so high, and it looked as though most of the beach had been under water very recently. We did find a spot where we sat for a couple of hours sunbathing, then decided we´d go for some lunch. Found a little restaurant on the river which looked nice, and I ordered a set fish meal which was outstanding. Anna however doesn´t like fish, so when her pathetically small tough and chewy chicken leg came out during my third course of ... read more

The coach was 3 hours late, so we got to Rosario station at 10 o´clock after a gruelling 16 hours on the coach non stop. Anna found it very hard to get to sleep, and because she can´t read whilst in a moving vehicle, it was a bit of a long journey for her. Fortunately I slept like a baby making the journey quite quick, so, every cloud. Arrived at our hostel which was great. The room is a 4 person dorm which we have to ourselves, and the staff seem very friendly. There is a cool bar which opens up onto the street, and it´s used by the general public as well as the dirty travellers. Had a walk into town, or at least we thought we would. Anna left me in charge of ... read more

Hello all Just a quick one to try and catch up on this blog, im a bit backlogged at the moment. After Iguazu we came to Argentina's second biggest city Rosario. You might of heard of it if you have seen or read the motorcycle diarys, as it is the birth place of Che Guevara. We decided to go there after as it has a great weekend party vibe, and apparantly had 70% female population (true). Got there liked the city remined me a little bit of london. Got there early in the morning so we went to a hotel (which was horrible) dropped off our stuff then walked around until a cafe opened so we could get some breakfast. I then went to sleep while seb and dan went shopping , the day went by ... read more

Hcello Hcello Hcello. Well, I´ve been absent for a little while in my blogging land. Drifting around in reality, and email but i´ve dropped back in. Just to let you know what has happened in the last 2 months, or so, with the tales of Villa Carlos Paz. For those of you who don´t know I´ve changed host families and towns. Its amazing how much a host family can affect your exchange especially in the first few months, and the last 2 weeks have been a lot of fun. As you will all read in my next entry cause my new family is awesome. For those of you who are what i would describe as an anal user of the english language and are infurirated with my use of the word awesome, it is in ... read more

whats up? it has been a great week. it went by so fast. i finally left buenos aires. after being there another 40 days it was hard to leave. it is too easy to stay there. it has everything you need and you kind of get sucked in. it is hard to explain it. hayden, jared, gary, jason, and lynny you need to come and check out as soon as you can. the flight is definitely the most important part of the trip. everything else is cheap. so i made my way up to rosario, argentina. it took me about 5 hours from bs as in a collectivo (bus). i had met two groups of girls at mar del plata from rosario so i got ahold of both groups before i left. evi and natasha picked ... read more

Tuesday morning around 4:00 am we arrived in Rosario safe and sound. The bus trip with Tac bus from Cordoba was a a bumpy ride and the bus seemed to fall apart any minute. If you can use a different compnay, please do so! Then we settled into a nice and old hotel - yes, we finally lost the ´s´ and upgraded from hostel to hotel. Rosario itself, is dominated by the River Parana, which carries very brown water and the unspoilt delta islands. We visited the beaches on the island and on the mainland, but the water was too brown to swim for us! Although the Argentines didn´t mind that and had a good time on the beach. Hence, we spent most of our time to try Rosario´s restaurants, bars and coffee houses. Here, we ... read more
