Just got back from traveling to Rosario! Friday afternoon at 1, Taryn and I met at the Retiro train station to get on our omnibus. It took about 5 hours, we got to our hostel a little bit after 6. It was called Che Pampas Hotel and it was amazing - so clean, really small, chill staff, included desayuno, living room with dvd player, patio with parilla…hot! We dropped off our stuff, grabbed some maps and immediately went exploring. We walked all the way down Avenida Belgrano (shady!) to see the Planetarium but it was closed, the only thing going on was some lecture type deal, so we bounced. We went to the festival del cine and then walked through a neighborhood that looked a lot like Palermo. We tried to find a restaurant and it ... read more

I´m officially in Rosario now! I arrived here after a 4hour bus ride from BA on Tuesday! We spent the first night sociallizing and went out to a local hang out place. I got to chat up some locals and learn some new slang :-) The next day we tested for our spanish levels and had orientation and then met our family!!! So my family is totally amazing. I live with my mom, dad, sister, and brother. I spend the most time with my mom. She´s been taking me around showing me where places are etc. My brother works all day and then has a tendancy to go out at night...he´s supposibly going to take me salsa dancing on Wednesday! My sister leaves for class right when I get home...but she´s graduating in a month from ... read more

Mandag den 21 juli: Rosario Ankommer kl 8. Alle har sovet godt. Får kaffe på stationen. Får bestilt alt for mange tostadoer.

This was our first city stop in Argentina and our main thing here was to seek out the birth place of Che Guevara, lol!Well we found it and could not be more disappointed it just a block of apartments and a pole on the outside (not for dancing with)saying birthplace of Che Guevara. However, the city of Rosario is lovely, there have fantastic architecture and lots of shopping woo hoo. There is a massive river and of course you can take trips down this or just sit in a restaurant and have a few scoops and bite to eat. Basically, its possible to have dinner at any time as we discovered one night on the vino, Ciara and Claire were speaking to a local couple for awhile and they recommended a restaurant that had excellent beef ... read more

We decided to stop in Rosario as the Lonely Planet described it as a miniature Buenos Aires, it has lots of beautiful architecture and good nightlife to boot. It´s also the birth place of Che Guevara so has it´s fair share of history too. We got there in the morning after another night spent on a bus, this time however we had opted to pay the extra couple of pounds for "cama" seats which means bed. This proved to be a good move, the seats were huge and there was enough leg room to stretch right out and get a good nights sleep. We even got fed and watered, although the dish of the day was a slightly dubious looking grey chicken and pasta combo washed down with cold red wine. Once we´d found our hostel ... read more

For the first 4 hours until the nearest major town on the bus from Puerto Iguazu to Santa Fe we were the only passengers, which we thought was fab. Just us upstairs with the front seats and the two drivers chatting downstairs. They still put on the obligatory action film just for us, but after we asked if the onboard drinks machine did coffee we were promptly handed two cups of thick tar coffee which kept us bouncing around for a good while, feeling smug that we had the best seats in the house (you get to choose your seats when you buy your tickets and after the journey up we soon realised that being upstairs at the front of the bus is best - no one in front reclining their seat back, more leg room, ... read more

Regarding the fancy-pants buses of South America, we booked into a cama from Cordoba to Rosario as we have been assured that they are vastly superior to the semi-cama which in turn is vastly superior to any bus I´d ever been on before Chile and Argentina. But I guess I'm a classy bird with a taste for comfort and so for this trip we booked cama. Unfortunately, despite our seats ability to recline 160 degrees and the nicely polystyrene packed snacks doled out on a silver platter (ok, no platter, but nice snacks), an hour or so into the journey, there was a bit of a 'putt-putt-bang' and the engine on our cama bus failed dismally and we ended up sitting, albeit terribly comfortably, on the verge watching the traffic streaking by. Despite my lack of ... read more

Eng ver below Od 2 dni jestem w Rosario. Postanowilam sie przeniesc z hostelu do namiotu. For 2 days I have been in Rosario. I decided to move from hostel to the tent. The ... read more
