As the Brazilian side of the Iguazu Falls give a more panaromic view we decided to head back across to Brazil first. Again this involved getting off at the boarder crossing as the bus sped away. Fortuntately we met Francesa and Giuseppe from Milan in Italy. Francesa is an interpreter and speaks a rake load of languages. After the border crossing we walked as far as Hotel Carmen rather than wait for a bus to bring us all the way to Foz. This saved about 30 mins at least by my estimation. The falls are amazing - more like a load of individual waterfalls all lined up together. That night we went for dinner with Francesa and Giusoppe. Paul (yet again) had Argentinen steak while I got a local river fish dish (surabi) with a load ... read more

Wow is the word for the Iguazu Falls - 275 waterfalls along over 2km of the Iguazu River with borders on Argentina, BRazil and Paraguay. Amazing especially the Garganta del Diablo one which is huge. The falls are bigger than Niagara falls. Stayed in a cool hostel which was more like a resort and had lovely few days. Huge pool and big gardens so perfect for chilling.... although that is all I seem to do these days! Next stop Brazil baby!... read more

Oblast trojmezi je velmi rusnou ... read more

After a nightmare bus journey from Rio to Puerto Iguazu (30 hrs with 2 unsheduled bus changes) we were in good spirits arriving to our hostel, the hostel inn. The hostel is fab, has its own pool and the bar stays open 24hrs although on the first night I was too shattered to have anything more than a 7up! Very like me I know! The next day we decided to take it easy and slept in, then took a cab to the Brazilian side of the Iguaçu falls. It was amazing. There are 275 falls along 2.7 kilometres (1.67 miles) of the Iguazu River and some of the falls are up 82 meters in height. Having seen the falls from the Brazilian side we spent Sunday on the Argentinian side where there was a bit more ... read more

You would believe that most travelers are gone in February because the peak of the high season is passed. But this is counting without the Argentinians who are on vacation at that time of the year and do travel in their country, and as a matter of fact, the majority travel mostly only in their country right now due to the economic situation they are facing & their money not allowing them to travel abroad, not even to the neighboring countries of Chile and Brazil. I had met a lot of Argentinian travelers after about two weeks of traveling by myself, which I really enjoyed and allowed me to polish my Spanish. Nevertheless, coming out of the blue, like it always does... I got this feeling that was waiting for me at the crossroads, and it ... read more

Starting to feel more like the heat of the tropics now as we are at the north tip of Argentina and have finally reached one of the high points of the trip - Iguazu Falls. In the last episode, we had just arrived in Mercedes and spent the night in a hostel room which had been converted from what would usually function as the bar (most of the bottles were empty so the idea of a Contreu nightcap had to be abandoned). We ended up paying for a package for the national park which included 2 nights accomodation, breakfast, 2 hour walk, 2 hour boat trip and horseriding. We went on a mini bus which took 3 hours along a red dust dirt road. We met Luisa, a Swiss girl who had also bought the same ... read more

So the next few days get a bit bitty ... remember that we were in Peru ... after the Inca trail? Day 33 - February 2nd 2008 - Cusco, Peru These bl**dy blogs take some time you know (Lizzy says Nathan is starting to swear too much). Today was a blog day. However - today was also one of those days where it was raining ... and there had been lunchtime alcohol involved. We watched that England game - in an Irish bar - with a stupid Irish girl who´s main focus was to wind Nathan up. I don´t use the word stupid lightly - but even my basic Anglo/Irish history told me that the claims she was making to her American chum were totally without foundation and she mistook replays for the real thing - ... read more

Hej wszystkim! Najwazniejsza wiadomosc PIWO W ARGENTYNIE JEST LEPSZE! Dwa dni temu czyli w poniedzialek przekroczylismy granice Argentynska. No i nadal zastanawiamy sie gdzie jechac dalej. Niesamowite! postaram sie przeslac ... read more
