Once finished the track, we all took an overnight crusie. It's well worth taking the crusie, you see some amazing views that you wouldn't see on the walk. I recommend getting up early the next morning, you will definitely bring home some stunning photo's. Matt, Lu, Sam and Karl took the posh private cabin option. The average age on the boat 75! Nai, GD and Helm took the not so posh option and ditched the private cablin, which was fine it was only the three of us in the one cabin. The great thing about our boat, we had a Contiki tour on board. The average age on our boat 23! It was an awesome night , very loud and lots of fun. meesh and i recently took three days in the woods....away from civilization. we needed it. we hiked part way up the copland valley which is surrounded by the huge mountain ranges on either side. the 'welcome flat hut' near where we camped is known for its thermal pools....we thought a good place to go and relax for a couple days. we packed our bags and tramped for 17km's up the valley. the trail was rocky and slippery in parts, but followed a wild foggy blue river for most of the way with views of snow capped and craggy mountains. when meesh and i walk we don't talk much....it's sort of a silent amble along hesitating at most of the beautiful things we see. it's really nice. we arrived at the end of our tramp early and ... read more

Hi, me again, I thought I may as well write as this is the last day with unlimited internet access before we head up to Byron Bay. So, I've finally been into central Sydney. I really like it, reminds me of New York but with the added bonus of the massive harbour. After a couple of weeks away from London it was nice to get back to the bustle of a city. The sea breeze makes it feel cleaner than London too. The opera house and harbour bridge lived up to expectations - beautiful! (no bridge climb yet, we'll be doing that when we get back from our road trip). We spent the afternoon pottering round the harbour before meeting up with Millsy's mate Sven and going for Kangaroo pizza (!). A bit like beef but ... read more

I decide to walk to the beach somewhere south of Bronte. This took me through Centennial Park, a very large expanse of green. On the other side I got lost in suburban streets. A woman stopped and asked for a sticker. A guy I asked for directions gave me a ride through Randwick and left me with a distant view of the ocean. This was pleasant downhill and led me to Coogee Beach. Spruiking was desultory. Then a guy has his Sunday newspaper opened and I see an article with two obviously new flag designs!!! I noted the page to check it later. I'm shuffling around and discover that today is the Iron man and woman grand final, right here. I thought of ambush marketing and made a valiant effort but know in my heart it ... read more

Well Helllooooooooooooooo Everybody!!!! Hope You're all well. Sorry its been a while since our last update. Had some plan changes!! Still haven't been to Yasawa islands or Robinson Crusoe-or indeed Beachcomber!!! So we lied!! But that will all change as of tomorrow. After Mana we stayed in Nadi for a while-possibly too long because Nadi can be done in 2days max but we had to wait for the next tours to start. Yasawa cruise had to be cancelled cos there was a hole in the boat!!!!!! We went to Nananu-i-ra Island instead which was truly stunning!! Sadly we didn't get to enjoy it's view very much because after a first day of adventurous exploring and swimming to neighbouring islands we got burnt to a crisp!!! Had to stay in the confinements of our room for the ... read more

Despite all the advice that i was given to avoid Canberra like the plague, I'd decided that Oz's Capital city deserved at least a look in for a day - boy, was a day enough!!! I hate to admit it, but most people were right about city - there really isn't a lot to see or do here. Unlike Adelaide, which is a large city with a small country town feel, Canberra is just plain small!!! I got into the city in the early hours of the morning, had a few problems checking into my Hostel, which is becoming a regular thing as i arrive before most people have had a chance to check out, so started the day a little later than i had planned. In spite of this, i still had enough time to ... read more

Yes, we know we havn't done a blog for ages but i promise its not because we're being lazy (or too drunk!) we have actually been really busy. We arrived in Byron Bay after Sydney for a few relaxing days on the beach before heading into Queensland for 10 days of activities. Great little town which is obviously what everyone thinks as it was hell trying to find a hostel! They've got the most beautiful beaches, one called Tallow which is great for surfing. However, as me and Trev are pretty pants at it and can't even stand up on one when its on the sand, we settled for body boarding instead. Great fun, but getting out there is so difficult as the currents are so strong and the waves huge, i almost lost my bikini ... read more

A quiet week of not doing very much as usual, but this weekend shoudl be a good one not only is it due to be my last shift at La Cita we are also off to see the 'Magic Numbers' tonight which we have had booked now for a while now. Colin and myself went down to the lovely Gordan's Bay today prior to drink preperation for the gig. We have been wanting to go snorkiling there for a while as we had heard it was pretty good. We went down there with the glorious sunshine illuminating the stunning blue cove. We hopped into the sea setting up a little base camp of towels and bags on the rocks to the right of the bay picture and proceeded to make our way into the sea.... Now ... read more

Friday morning myself, Laura and Yvette (two Spanish girls that live at the hostel on Waiheke) left Waiheke for the weekend and headed to Piha, a small surf town about an hour west of Auckland on the Tasman sea. We rented a car and took our shitty map and headed for Piha. First let me introduce and navigators; Laura who speaks zero English and Yvette who speaks very little English. Second they drive on the left onside of the road in New Zealand. In hindsight I should have looked at the map before leaving Auckland, but it was much more exciting letting two girls who can't read English lead the way. We drove about an hour north which didn't make a lot of sense since Piha is west of Auckland, at this point directions to turn ... read more

We hit the westcoast next and headed north to some of the South Island's main tourist attractions, the Fox and Franz Joseph glaciers. Both were stunning and induced lots of talk using words not heard (and never expected to be heard) since GCSE Geography such as "terminal and lateral morraine"!! We were able to get up close and personal to the glacier faces and watch enormous chunks of ice fall into the rivers below which landed with a big echoing boom! After the glaciers, and plenty more geography talk, we continued our drive further up the westcoast. The drive was beautiful and again we found ourselves stopping to take photos far too ofter. We stayed overnight at a couple of campsites next to inland lakes and visited the stunning Hokitika Gorge. Every morning we had to ... read more
